Does anyone think a midwife would frown if a had a washing up bowl (new) instead of a baby bath at my homebirth? It'ws just that I used one with my youngest and found these much more convinient than baby baths!:A Your Always in my heart, you never ever will be forgotten-9/9/14:heart2:0

Congratulations to everyone who's given birth and to those that have found out they are expecting!!! Asda have that tommee tippee nappy disposal system for a tenner, if anyone needs one. They have some good finds and their sale ends on the 27th of this month.
Just as a note on this. We got a voucher in our Bounty pack at hospital this week to get one of these from Argos for free. We weren't planning on getting one but don't mind when it's free (not that we've picked it up yet!). I presume all Bounty packs are the same so it might be worth waiting to see.0 -

honey, I think choc is talking about her Bounty pack from the hospital after giving birth although I certainly didn't get that voucher in October ;).
Just a quick reminder for everyone - make sure you join all the clubs, such as Boots parenting club, Tesco, huggies, pampers, cow & gate, aptamil, hipp, etc, etc, etc! They send lots of vouchers and samples :j
Take care everyone

(PS - DH and I were last night discussing having more babies very soon! )0 -
If I may be so bold as to add to this list, my wife if pregnant with "Pip", about eight weeks in. I've never known anything go so slowly - it seems like an age since she took the pregnancy test on the 2nd January and we found out!
Look forward to maybe talking on here as all the pregnancy forums on the internet seem to be very female-orientated with men only mentioned when women are moaning about how lazy their bloke is!
We're paying £50 for a private scan on the 13th February as Hampshire doesn't do them on the NHS, can't wait.

Can't believe all these newbies - i feel like one of the old ones now. Really fed up with being pregnant now and i still have nearly 5 weeks to go - just want baby here to see that he is OK. Going to do a countdown calendar for the kids so that they can see how many days it is until baby is 'supposed' to come.
Traveller - can't see any reason why you shouldn't use a washing up bowl - sounds ideal really - not too big to fill or carry and fits baby in well - if i hadn't already bought a blow up bath really cheap i think i would do the same. Baby baths are such a waste of money really. The midwife should applaud you for your money saving and ingenious idea.
Nice to see that you haven't gone far Septemberbaby. The list might need sorting out every now and again.
I've been joining all the baby clubs - if anyone knows any of the more obscure ones, ie not boots, tesco, etc. then i would love to know about them.
Welcome mr Chutzpah and congratulations to you and your wife. Seems a bit unfair that you have to pay for a scan.
Would be great if the bounty pack you are given in hospital has a voucher for a nappy wrapper. Was tempted by the one in Asda but only because it was so cheap - never really seen the point in them really, but hey ho if they are free then who cares.now mum of 4!!!0 -
hello!! can I join in this thread please, been TTC for our first baby since mid dec and got a positive result just over a week ago. I think my EDD will be the 27th Sep (same as foreversomeday) but have not been to docs yet - appointment on wednesday!!
what will happen at the docs appt??

i had my bounty pack for mum to be a while back and didnt have that choc
was urs the same one the mum to be one?
I got two packs in the hospital, a mum's overnight one and a baby one, and the voucher was in one of those although I'm not sure which one as by the time I got home OH had unpacked both and put all the bits away and just gave me a huge pile of vouchers / leaflets to look through. I was imprtessed with the Bounty packs though - full size Comfort and Johnsons baby wipes, lots of nappies and washing tablets. when I had DS and DD you only got tiny sample sizes of everything.0 -
Welcome to the new people.
Mr Chutzpah, do you not get a scan at all? That's seems highly unfair. Hopefully you still get an anomlay scan at 20 weeks though, do you?
ThreeKids - I think the way to get your baby early is to be quite happy to wait. I remember Shelvis being due on the 8th but wanting to wait until the 15th and she had him a couple of days early. I was happy to wait until today or even after but decisions were taken out of my hands and I had him on the 18th. All the people who seem to be waiting impatiently seem to go overdue! I think we have a lot of awkward babies!
And after spending my whole pregnancy telling people I wasn't going to be in labour long and how I was planning a quick birth I actually had him in less than 25 minutes from the hospital deciding a caesarian was in order (6 minutes from receiving a general anaesthetic). My new motto is "Be careful what you wish for!!"
Oh, BTW, I don't have to leave here now, do I? After so long ttc and then the pregnancy I don't feel I can leave yet! Have the other no-longer-pregnant people progressed to the Parents' Board (I haven't looked there yet)0
