  • Good luck CG hope you have some excellent news for us soon!!

I am feeling a little more positive thanks to all of you reassuring me. It was when she said she thought I had a lot of fluid that panicked me I think cos of the chance of birth defects and I refused the downs tests so have been a bit of a niggling doubt since then.

    Hope everyone is well today

And did your OH have to put his hand there too?

Are there any more classes? And more to the point, are you going back?

yes he did! not so good for the woman that was there with her mum who had to do the same thing.

There are 2 more classes next week, one for both of us and one just for me. i am not sure if i want to see her on my own!

Oh dear, that is just so weird. Are you sure she was for real and not just some perv that had wandered in off the street!?! :D:rotfl:

    :o

I had my doubts when she admitted she was a physio rather than a midwife!

we realised that we dont have as many cellular blankets as we thought (think the washing machine ate them!)
anyway, the cot size ones are bloody expensive from places like mothercare and toys r us... anyone get them some place cheaper? (except ebay... just been on there :p )

ive forgotten most stuff about doing babies bedding... is using a fleece blanket the same as 2 folds of a cellular?

toys r us online were flogging lilac ones for £3.99 each recently, other colours were £12.99

    well hello girls!

first, before i forget...Shelvis... chocoholic was right, it was me who was measuring 5 weeks ahead, load of crap love... dont panic yourself!
doing it with a tape measure can be out by miles depending on who measures you... seriously, if your MW had handed the tape to another MW the measurement would probably have been completely different!
ive said it all along, they bang it into us that all babies are different, each pregnancy is different, all women carry different then they expect each and every one of us to measure up EXACTLY the same??
    naaahh....

    :D

This is exactly right, there are 3 midwifes at my GP's and one of them always measures me 2.5 weeks bigger than dates, one says one week bigger than dates and the other says i am right for dates. I think it is because some start measuring lower than others.

I read an article in the newspaper recently about financial assistance from the British government for people who wish to give birth somewhere else in the EU. Basically they are paying you to be taken of their books I suppose.

Does anyone have any further information on how you apply for this funding?

We are going to Spain to give birth to our baby (due 01.01.08).

    Thanks!

Wow! How do you get a midwife like that?
  • Jedeye - My sister has just moved to Spain recently and she gave birth to her daughter out there. As far as i know she had her EHIC (E111 as it used to be known) and that covers all your basic maternity needs in the EU.
I know that she didnt have to pay anything which was fab as my dad was going to take out private health care cover with BUPA which would have cost around £2000  this was until someone he met out in Spain told him not to bother!

If you need to know anymore I'll try my best to find out for you. I will just say that when my sister went to register her daughter's birth the hospital hadn't given her all the forms, so double check that you have everything before you leave.
It's also expensive to actually register the birth I'm sure dad said 300 Euros! (will find that out for def) they had to pay for a translator as no one spoke English and that bumped the cost right up.
Our 1st baby is due 29th December 2007! :rudolf:
I'm hopeful that this get's me out of cooking Christmas dinner!

Baby Ruby arrived after 55 hours of labour & an emergency c section on Christmas Day at 14.41 weighing 6lb 6oz...And yes I did get out of cooking Christmas dinner!!:rotfl:
