ChrisEvanson wrote: »Not wrong at all. Also not wrong when someone who does post on here asks for some help to get some without being accused of being 'lazy' in some quarters and when they've been up since 5am, its gone midnight wanting some sleep and just trying to earn a living too!
No huff here, but I'm afraid long shifts over many days and early starts do mean sleep needed! As I said earlier, too much paranoia here in some quarters and the worry 'if I put it on here it will just mean all stores being cleared' yet if nobody shared there would be nothing on the web. So yes it is selfish to refuse to share if you are asked a question and refuse to answer in case others get a bit of the action.
The issue is more complex when its info that's been drip fed over months, someone comes into it who is not a newbie but doesn't always have the time to read and post (before the sarky replies come, I've got a little time having finished a long run at work but have still got 'life' things to do!) therefore the ability to read back over several 10k post threads to get all the info isn't possible.
I appreciate there are many sharers and lovely people on here, as evidenced by PM's, posts answering queries etc. But those who refuse to share their info and tell people to read back through 10's of thousands of posts ARE selfish. When its all in the last 10 pages fine, but its not.
As for the person who hinted I could lose my job, that's really lovely isn't it?!?! "I haven't a job so I'm not sharing bargains and I hope you lose yours" is how I read that?!?
All this because I politely asked for some more info on the 1p chocs?!
Anyway, I honestly don't want to fall out with you all, or upset the majority of helpful people on here. But as stated above, nobody pays a sub so this thread is open to us all. Thanks again to those who share.
I'm catching up backwards so sorry i this has been said
I'm sure i heard that Martin put pretty much everything you need about 1p chocs on his newsletterApparently, everybody knows that the bird is [strike]the word[/strike] a moorhen0 -
May I just say....
1. I thought the 1p chocs had been going for months. Apologies that I evidently got it wrong.
2. I haven't intentionally criticised anyone for their activities, what I said to Scamps was merely that someone who has had lots and car boots them (regardless of justification) could help when asked but chose not to.
3. I apologise to those who felt they were labelled 'selfish' by me who feel they aren't.
4. I only asked for help and criticised those who refused. Sorry if this is seen as 'bringing the thread into disarray'
I hope my list proves use useful to others and thank everyone who did helpIf I had a pound for every pound I'd lost, I'd be confused0 -
Sorry you are having problems with the thread but if you've been around a while you should by now understand how it works. There is no set formula as to how glitches etc are or should be presented to anyone. It's very much pot luck as to whether you are in the right place at the right time, at least that's what I find.
I often find that people are talking about something I haven't latched onto and don't understand but I put that down to not being on the thread when it first appears...that's life:)
Yes I agree. I m not all that pc savvy having only decided to learn a few years ago. I do try to find things myself but don't know any easy way too and it can take ages. People are helpful on here when I have asked and I like to think I help them by mentioning things I hear about. It s all about give and take isn t it and the odd bit of flirting with the illusive David. I think I must have frightened him off though as he s hardly on lately. Guess I m too much woman for him :rotfl:

My final word on this...honest:)
Your opinions are valued and respected as much as anybody else on here so please keep coming back. I am sure you won't upset people with an honest opinion:).
My point about subs/fee may have been slightly misinterpreted. The thread is of course open to all....contributors and lurkers. As there is no fee nobody should expect to get anything from the thread as a moral right just because it is a public forum on the MSE site. People share what feels right for them in their own situation and everyone is different in that respect. We all have busy lives in one way or another and a certain amount of self interest is only human nature.
"You reap what you sow" may be a bit of a hackneyed maxim but is,IMHO, the best way to approach this thread. Nevertheless there are those who still get a lot of help despite trying the patience of many on here. Hope to see you again:)
Thanks for this tolerant and understanding post. Much appreciated and noted. If I had a pound for every pound I'd lost, I'd be confused0 -
My store is doing this price promise bingo. Today we have to save £1.23. I cant get my head around buying things in the shop where they are actually cheapest
Prize table has boxes of wine gums on it. Does that mean these went to 1p :rotfl:
Your store must be a bit more generous than mine, in ours we have to save £8.41:eek:
I am sure between us we could put a list together to spend little and save £1.23 though;)It`s nice to be important, but its more important to be nice.
The world is full of people throwing stones at us. Its what you do with them that counts. Build a wall or build a bridge.0 -
These are in my T along with some blossom hill/Lindt Truffles. I just keep checking them by having them scanned(no self scanner) and having to make excuses as to why I don't want to buy them. One day I might get lucky or even luckier if I'm on here when someone else confirms them...nobody says it's easy.:)
Yes Artha isn t it a nuisance when they don't provide the self scanners most inconsiderate, makes things so much easier if they did have them. As to what may be reduced its pretty obvious really isn t it ( for those who dont know) just look for things that have been there for certain occasions eg Xmas Mother's Day that have passed.:)0 -

. Seriously, well said.
Hi Chris.
Lets hope this thread stays as helpful as it is.
I think its important to remember, we were ALL new once. We have ALL been too busy to read back, and those that DO have the time, and are helpful, will always help out.
We are all spread around the country, so share and share a like! Have a dolly mixture on me! and have a good day at work!

Someone posted an entire list on here copied from 10 ways
I remember finding nestle black magic and posting it on here shortly after that. Search my posts for black magic and then read a couple of pages back from there. Its pretty extensive IIRCApparently, everybody knows that the bird is [strike]the word[/strike] a moorhen0 -
Good morning everyon, lovely sunny day here.
Not had chance to read back and, having read this page, not sure if I will.
Anyway, off to get brekkie, bit late getting up here and so much to do, but have learned that everything will still be there when I finally get around to it!What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0
