Too late! It's a Jamie Oliver Victoria sponge with raspberries and double cream in the middle! Now how did that happen? ;)

Well, I put the cake in the fridge with a card next to it saying 'Happy Birthday' and waited for him to get the milk out the fridge....and, the big numpty, (love that word) didn't even see it. Typical man!

I confess to having a small lick of the spoon as I was making it, but have so far refrained from having a slice. It would look bad wouldn't it if I had a piece before the birthday boy!:rotfl:

Feeling hot and bothered today. The girls have been fighting over who gets to water the patches in the back lawn, so I have been quite short-tempered with them.

Hubby liked his birthday presents and has taken half the cake to work with him, so removing temptation from the fridge!:A

The girls gave him his presents this morning and then decided to wrap a series of random objects in wrapping paper - including books off the bookshelf and, for some reason, bits of newspaper and old cuddly toys. (???)

One more week of school - which seems like a lifetime. The children are all so tired and so are the staff. I am so ready for a break!

Not spent any money today but will have to get petrol tomorrow as the light has been on a while. :(

    Hi Claree, welcome!:)

Today I have done the washing, watered the garden and made an attempt at poached eggs for tea. Oh, and been to work too...

Hubby has started buying a gammon joint each week and we tend to use this for butties instead of ham. He boils it and changes the water several times (to get rid of some of the salt) and then finishes it off in the oven. It's delish and much cheaper than buying packs of ham. Girlies had this with their eggs tonight and really enjoyed it.

Dietwise I have had fruit every day for almost three weeks. Unfortunately I only really like grapes and strawberries, so it's not always cheap. It was too hot to eat tonight so I have just had some cereal. Sad as it seems, I really enjoyed it.:)

No money spent today other than petrol. Roll on the weekend - Hubby is off for once so we are planning to meet up with some family and have a fun day out. :T

Too hot! Too hot! Too hot!

I don't want to malign the weather as we so rarely get any that's good - but I am simply TOO HOT!

Jamie Oliver's cake has now been devoured and I am proud to say only a mere morsel passed my lips. :A I have now lost another 2 lbs so far bringing me up to 8lbs in total. :)

I am, however, a bit fed up of all the thin people at work bemoaning how 'chunky' they are while pointing out non-existent 'wobbly bits' on their bodies. One day it will be me ......:rotfl:

I'm definitely moving schools - I want one of those cupcakes!:D

Karen - your Hubby must be very practical, making an aviary. Our cats would love it if you built one for us!

Went to Manley Mere adventure trail this weekend with Hubby's cousin, wife and two little boys, who are the same age as the girls. It was brilliant! If you've never heard of it, imagine bikes that you peddle which squirt water the faster you go, zip wires over pools of mud and giant hamster wheels that make things spin! The girls loved it, particularly the 'ducking' chair, which was effectively a see saw with a ducking stool on the end. Well, you manoeuvred the seat with the small child in and then ducked them in a muddy pool of water. DD2 was particularly keen on this! Much fun was had by all and the children were literally covered in mud up to their necks! Then it was off to the changing rooms to be hosed down (literally). :rotfl: It was at this point I realised that I had left DD1's change of clothes on the back of the chair at home. Luckily, had a spare top of mine so she ended up wearing this, which looked a bit odd but at least was clean. :)

Would definitely go again, and it didn't work out too expensive - £8.00 each and then DD2 was free because she is only four. We also took a picnic so that helped keep the cost down, although some of the clothes were only fit for the bin when we got home!

Not done a lot today, feeling a bit flat. Only 3 days till the summer hols......
