i had a good shop the other day, thought i would post the details for those in need of help of combinations.

    6 x jellyvits (1.75 each) bogof`s
    4 X colgate toothpaste (2.28 each) bogof`s
4 x john freida miraculous recovery sachets (1.49 each) total over £10.00

6 x small sanex shower gels (1.79 each) total over £10.00

    4 x sanex cream baths (2.48 each) bogof`s
1 x £1.00 radox bath to make total over £10.00

i used 4 x 1.50 john freida coupons from sb, this makes all the miraculous recovery sachets free as they cost £1.49 each
    4 x £2.50 coupons from sb
    4 x £1.00 coupons from h&b (toiletry ones)
    2 x £1.25 coupons from qk
    1 x £2.00 coupon from qk

afterwards i thought i could also have used the 40p off colgate coupons from qk as well against my 4 colgates and i used 4 x the 50 point coupons from h&b.

the total i had to pay on the toiletries was 3p! it could have been better as i could have had a credit against my other shopping by using other coupons.
Also the other day when i had another 3 lots of £10.00 before bogof spends the sa said he could not take all my coupons, only one per transaction:eek: but then i said oh well i will have to put them through separately then, you will have to void them all off, they were all packed in bags of course and i had made sure i mixed them up on the belt with my other shopping so they were scattered on my receipt, he looked at my receipt and then just started scanning through all my coupons without another word said:T

I've had the *only 1 of each type* today........from my regular scan-happy cashier  ......she tells me she got a *word from the manager* the other day so i had to re-arrange my stuff on the belt. Didn't work out too bad, but obviously, could have been better......at least she hadn't started scanning stuff before she told me.

Now then, about this lack of coupons lark:

Asked me little H & B lady today.....(can i have some coupons/take as many as you like luv ;) )......apparently, the reason why there seems to be a short supply of coupons this time is because they have been released as the same time as the clubcard mailings. Mr T is not so much clamping down but obviously, spends go up (as a company) when the mailings come out...hence, they don't need to *give away* so much stuff. :)

She also told me my store got 1 box (gawd ...i can get through a box myself! ) of the red H & B coupons
Autism Mum Survival Kit: Duct tape, Polyfilla, WD40, Batteries (lots of),various chargers, vats of coffee, bacon & wine. :)

I've had some excellent H&B and healthcare shops lately which make up for the ones where they only take one of each kind. I was lucky enough to find a stash of H&Bs and a couple of old quits at my local. Swapped some of these on PTS for So Beautifuls and have been in a coupon frenzy ever since :D

Managed to get a £19.94 shop down to 64p today and 267 points. I felt a little :o when the cashier told me how much it was and handed me back a £1.50 John Frieda coupon :D .

I have now got my reply from Tesco, concerning the lack of Quit, So Beautiful, and Health and Beauty leaflets.
Here's what they had to say, and it's not good.

    Thank you for your email.

I was sorry to hear about your problem with Healthy And Beautiful
    leaflets.

I've looked into this for you and as with any of the vouchers/coupons
that are provided to customer, the
products are available in selected stores and subject to availability.

    Thank you for contacting us.

I presume thats their get-out clause (selected stores). Well at least we know now!

    Hi

Another couple of bad shops recently - one with just a batch of money-off coupons whereby the young, male SA sifted through the pile & said he could only accept 1 (for 25p) as I hadn't bought any of the products - and another where I had bought just over £10 before bogof of H&B items and again, another young, male SA would only take 1 x £1.25 QK, saying he couldn't take the 1 x £2.50 SB saying I had not spent £10 on H&B. I then had to be firm in telling him I had bought some John Frieda for him to put the JF £1.50 one through and the additional till spit for something else. He wouldn't take any of the other moc for items that I hadn't bought. He also mentioned the 10% rule. (He also didn't add on my green points for my bags.)

Anyway, I was wondering if I would be better off trying to use the self-scanners and if anybody could give me any advice on if there was a particular order to put the coupons through or any tips/tricks.

I did my first small trial yesterday but I think practically every coupon seemed to beep for authorisation. I had a couple of moc, plus a DM magazine one, plus 2 x £1.25 QK & 1 x £2.50 SB. The (yet another) young, male SA saw my 2 x £1.25 QK in my hand and said I could only use one per tranaction. I thought 2 would work against a £10 spend (am I right?) but then didn't dare try it. The good news was that everything else went through.

How do the self-scanners work in terms of putting coupons through? Does each voucher need to be authorised and would the SAs stop you scanning the vouchers? Is there any kind of limit either in terms of number/value that you can use?

    Many thanks in advance.

    Mardrew

PS Have just returned from the store where the above negative shops took place. I was going to try the self-scanner there but couldn't see one and so tried another young, male SA. He put all my coupons through and I wanted to kiss him when he manually started inputting the code from the fuzzy DM Harpers & Queen voucher! Just shows that there is no consistency even within stores never mind across stores!

PPS Have taken Leadhead's advice and have started compiling a list of these SAs so I will remember (if my descriptions work) who was good & who was bad at accepting vouchers/coupons.

I finally managed to get 2 quit kits today, am quite pleased. Only managed to get these cause I went to another store. Didn't want to risk trying to take more as it was right next to the customer service woman who was serving. I can only use one £1.25 off voucher per transaction thoug can't I? No sign of SB and H&B though. Had a few active packs but only realised when I opened one that they were out of date :( they were by the regular tills.

I managed to get 5 h&b and 1 SB today, got so many quit kits I didn't bother to grab any more, seems a lot of people my way are taking a liking to these coupons and Im not getting many left, ho hum. Anyway still managed a very good shop by getting £12.70 worth of toiletries for free and 71p off my shopping.
Madrew, I think the general advice about self scanners is that they seem to ask for authorisation at about 3 coupons, although there is no consistency and some stores will be more/less. The main problem I and alot of others on here have is that it comes down to abusing the system a bit too much and tesco may pick up on it, with the self scanners, if you go to a SA they then take the responsibilty of taking the coupons from you and so therefore its their fault they took the coupon, witht the self scanners you know exactly what you are doing and what coupon youre putting in the slot. Just a question of your own ethics/morals. Personally I stay clear and pick my own happy scanning girls/boys.
    Sorry rant over.

Thanks for that. I do understand what you are saying. I only ever do the minimum H&B shops anyway and only about 3 times a week. I was just starting to feel frustrated because, just lately, I haven't had many 'happy scanners'. I ended up throwing out most of the last lot of DM book vouchers. I was a bit rash & bought 6 papers and think I only managed to use 1 of them! Similarly, I bought 3 copies of the Fresh magazine and have been having trouble having the Food Doctor coupons from the mag accepted.

    Kind regards

I'd check out your local Tesco Express. Ive seen the Quit packs in there, as well as Tesco Esso.

Know what you mean, I bought 3 copies of DM a while back and due to blury barcodes, none got scanned so I gave up. My MIL does her H&B through the SS and has never had a prob (but I know she doesn't use as many coupons as I do), she also doesn't use her clubcard so as not to draw attention to herself. As you said you not doing many shops I guess it wouldn't matter to use SS, just I prefer to use an SA myself.
