I don't know if its only me that feels this way but while I am going round the store, I daren't put the expensive things I want to buy in the trolley, I start off just putting the basics in like milk and bread so that if it goes wrong, I won't have to pay a fortune for things I wouldn't normally buy unless they were free.
My young son who comes with me said to me today that we should assume we will be lucky at the tills and put stuff in the trolley accordingly. I can see where hes coming from but I always assume that if I did do that, fate would step in and give me a supervisor taking over the till at the crucial moment!
However, today was fabulous!
I put lots of things in the trolley along with 2 lots of HB as we saw our favourite happy scanner at a till and I was feeling brave
Split the shop into 2 on the belt and he scanned the first lot which came to £40+ as we had bought a PS2 game alongside the bread etc. he scanned everything I gave him and the total was £1.05 :T
I felt more confident after that so wasn't worried about the 2nd set of shopping and true to form, he scanned all the coupons again and I paid another tiny amount
We retired to the car to sit and gloat over the receipt (its not just me that does that I know!) and decided that we should go back in and take advantage of the fact our fav sa was on.
I went back in and this time allowed myself to put whatever I fancied into the trolley including stockpiling on the basics like washing powder/toilet rolls/air freshner etc etc.
He scanned it all again and didn't seem surprised to see me and once again paid less than a pound for a £40+ shop :rotfl:
I wasn't very good at this to start off with and quite a few times got caught out by choosing the wrong sa and ending up paying a fortune (compared to what I wanted to pay!) for my shop.
Lately I have got very good at it indeedand have now reduced my weekly shop down from £80+ to less than £10
Long Live Tesco!
you couldngive us all some hints....0 -
Short update to my previous post. in case anyone was wondering, I only use coupons that Tesco can get their money back on and as I have recently been told, Head Office have sent a memo out to all stores to say it is ok to pay for your entire shop with vouchers if you so desire. (very very unlikely that this will happen though!)
Anyway, reason I am posting, I just remembered a good glitch I saw on an earlier post either here or on Paid To Shop.
I bought some of the Dove shower gel today x4 at £2.28 but I had to add 2x 39p toothpaste and 1x 21p toothpaste to take it over the £10 barrier as it only came to £9.12 before the bogof came off.
I used the usual :
1x £2.50 Hb
2x £1.25 Quits
2x £1.00 Hb
But, I also added 4 x70p off palmolive shower gel (which should only work on palmolive but I think might work on any shower gel) and 3 x40p off toothpaste as well so there was actually a credit on my bill of £5.45 off my other shopping!
(I think!)
Hope this helps and all credit to the original poster (not sure who that was).Stopped smoking Jan 2007 after 23 years!Cigarettes NOT smoked = 240,945Smoke free days = 11 Years :TCash saved so far = £125,45,110 -

Forgive my ignorance but what are "moc's" ? I want to know how to get a free lunch from Tesco!0 -
ARGHGHGH. Damn Tesco.
I think I'm being blind, but on the home shopping thing on Tesco.com there doesn't appear to be a Health and Beauty section/shower gel etc aisles, so I can't actually do this.
I get to choose between 'Food&Drink' and 'Household' Sections - so I go to Household (I have checked in F&D just incase btw) and nothing like H&B - firelightes, magazines, clothing even, but no meds, no shampoos etc etc and it's driving me up the wall!!! I can find the items if I do a search for say, toothpaste, but this doesn't help as it doesn't tell me which section it's in, just a list of products.
Sooo anyone else got any idea what the different products are cat. as please? Even just for the current BOGOFS would be helpful , thank you
There is a list of bogos on the first page. HTH someone.0 -

Hi - Been lurking for a while but not brave enough to do a lot of the voucher things, but thought I'd try today - and it didn't work!
I bought:
2 x tampax on 2 for £4. [total before discount = £5.38]
2 x palmolive handwash on BOGOF [total before discount = £3.08]
a reduced deodrant to take over £10 [£0.99]
and a few other bits and pieces of groceries.
Went to till, scanned and gave him vouchers. A HB £1 and a Quit £1.25 went through, but the first one he tried, the HB £2.50 off ten pounds, didn't. On the receipt it has:
Subtotal £x.xx
Multibuy savings total saving £x.xx
Total to pay £x.xx
Then the 2 coupons that did work.
Can anyone please help me on why the £2.50 didn't work? Is it because the till had already applied the savings before I gave him vouchers? He told me the total I owed and then I gave him the vouchers [he was a bit quick for me!] - are you meant to give vouchers before the end and they total it up? Sorry for the silly qu, I am a bit flummoxed and really want to get a good 'Tesco rush'!0 -

These items only total £9.45, which is why the £2.50 coupon didn't scan. If you had been over the £10 mark then youcould have used 2 x Quit Pack and 2 x H&B £1 coupon, plus some points coupons from H&B too... sa allowing.
Better luck next time.
Btw.. If I am getting my sums in a tizz, I get out my mobile and use the calculator

Also.. you do hand over the coupons at the end when you are given the total, then they'll give you a new total to hand over your cash/card.So your answer don’t be scared of failure
