Hi - Been lurking for a while but not brave enough to do a lot of the voucher things, but thought I'd try today - and it didn't work!

    I bought:
    2 x tampax on 2 for £4. [total before discount = £5.38]
2 x palmolive handwash on BOGOF [total before discount = £3.08]
a reduced deodrant to take over £10 [£0.99]

and a few other bits and pieces of groceries.

Went to till, scanned and gave him vouchers. A HB £1 and a Quit £1.25 went through, but the first one he tried, the HB £2.50 off ten pounds, didn't. On the receipt it has:

    Subtotal £x.xx
    Multibuy savings total saving £x.xx
    Total to pay £x.xx
Then the 2 coupons that did work.

Can anyone please help me on why the £2.50 didn't work? Is it because the till had already applied the savings before I gave him vouchers? He told me the total I owed and then I gave him the vouchers [he was a bit quick for me!] - are you meant to give vouchers before the end and they total it up? Sorry for the silly qu, I am a bit flummoxed and really want to get a good 'Tesco rush'!

Also, apparently Tampax are not classified as toiletries or beauty (despite the sanitary wear on another of the vouchers) something to do with Tesco's computers having a glitch apparently (according to the Supervisor at my store), so they don't scan on the coupons.
Do not feed the trolls please.
  • what i would do would be to buy all of the items that are on BOGOF,for instance instead of buying the listerine mouthwash buy the oral b one instead as this is on BOGOF,and instead of the dettol handwash buy the palmolive ones as these are on BOGOF

this is a sample shopping list

    all on BOGOF

    2 x oral b = £5.98
    4 x palmolive handwash = £6.16
    2 x macleans white n shine/whitening toothpaste = £4.90
    2 x lynx shower gel = £3.64

total £20.68 before the BOGOF comes off

the till thinks you have spent over £20 on toileteries so you can use the following vouchers

    2 x £2.50 h&b
    4 x £1.25 quit
    5 x £1 h&b

£10.34 spent on toileteries, which means you will have £4.66 credit for the rest of your shopping

i always look on tesco.com and write my list before i hit the shops,as it is easy to get muddled up trying to do the sums in store especially when you have kids in tow

this all depends on finding a nice happy scanning cashier ;)

ps you could also use 2 of the 40p colgate vouchers as i think these scan on any tooth paste, but i dont bother with these as it only adds to the wad of voucher that you hand over and for 80p not really worth it , but its up to you

also if you are buying shower gel i have heard on the grapevive that the 70p palmolive coupon from the so beautiful leaflet works on the dove cream wash that is currently on BOGOF, so may work with any shower gel, but havent tested this
    Thanks for the list:j :j

Will keep a note out for how much else i spend and if the SA doesn't accept all the vouchers i will do the "i'm really sorry i've not got my wallet on me" line :D

If i can get a friendly SA i'll need to buy another lot to fund some storage for all the free stuff:p

I guess you've all been finding quit kits okay?

If not, try checking your Tesco garage. The 3 tesco garages round here all have at least 3 fully stocked boxes of quit kit packs which are constantly replaced.

As far as i'm aware, Tesco's do not stock Clinique. Not in any of the stores i've been in certainly.

Maybe you could try the ladies on the Boots thread in Grabbit? They'll be able to tell you the best deals in Boots at least.

    HTH. :)
hi i work in a tescos extra on health/ beauty and we sell clinique sometimes its with the perfumes or with skincare products:j :j

If anyone else is interested, send me a pm with your email address (its too long to be sent via pm on Mse) for a copy, I have written a mini guide to what I myself do to get my shopping quite low using vouchers. I would post it on here but don't really think its a good idea!

Edit; Seems quite a lot of you were interested, hope you enjoyed it and put it into practice :)

Have my shopping list for tomorrow

    2 x oral b mouthwash
    2 x palmolive handwash
    2 x tesco extra toothpaste
    2 x lynx shower gel
    2 x wash and go

    which comes to £20.90

so should be able to use all the coupons and get some "free" cat food:D

Welshy - I saw some on eBay yesterday, 10 sets for £4.50 with free postage - which I thought was pretty good value. They had loads left when I looked last night, let me know if you can't find them :D .

Just did a quick Tesco shop before they closed tonight, including free toiletries!! Didn't go crazy, just £10 worth but it does feel good ;) .

    2x Timotei @ £1.65
    2x Lynx @ £1.82
    2x Palmolive handwash @ £1.54
    Total £10.02

I used 1x £2.50 HB, 2x £1.25 QK, 1x £1 HB and 2x 50pts. Oh, and added in a 27p Tesco's own toothpaste and added a 40p Colgate coupon. So free goodies and money off groceries. I now I could have used more coupons, but am planning more little shopping trips rather than a few humongous ones.

    Poundsinbucks x ;)

Question re the HB 50 Extra Clubcard Points voucher.

If you bought an item for say £1.01 on BOGOF would you still get the 50 points as the items would go through as £2.02 before the BOGOF deduction?
