That's an interesting one and I think you need to pick them up on it. Sometimes MS companies forget what a mystery shopper is - someone that is essentially a normal customer!

It's unreasonable for them to insist you push someone to the point they know who you are and what you're trying to achieve - besides, if he did show you on 3rd or 4th 'prompt', he would be marked as such. If he didn't show you the phone then this should be the result on your report, then he can be trained to start showing people in the future!

Really bugs me when MS companies expect you to be so OTT, especially for the fee!
  • A couple of days ago I wrote about not being able to Log-in to GAP, it was saying "Login Failed". I rang the English number (on there main website) and the guy who answered was really nice, expained he was from account but said he would try and find out for me. I have not heard anything since but got an email today requested my "coffee" equipment back, even though I have a couple of assignments booked for them next week, so I'm assuming my GAP account has been shut down for some reason, which I am not happy about because Im expecting payment. Although the jobs do not pay much, if it was convienient to do it brought a few pennies in.

Has this happened to anybody else?? Or has anyone got any advice on what I can do in contacting the mysterious world that is GAP!!!!

    Thanks

I know that they periodically review shoppers and sometimes get rid of some people that way. Have you had an email or anything saying that they do not require you any more. I know that this has happened to a couple of people before and they have sent an email saying thankyou for being a mystery shopper for them, and their clients like a range of different shopper profiles ie age, race and gender.
Or is could just be that you rang them, as they DO NOT like that at all. They just like you to email and them and then they ring you.

Yeah it is - they have to give you special equipment to do it....

I've asked but they've ignored me!

I've asked 2 different people from Gap if I can do these assignments (I didn't ring them specifically about it but asked when they rang ME asking me to do assignments at late notice) and they have both said that they would sort it out for me. I am still waiting .................

Also, I did a Chicken assignment for them yesterday afternoon, and being weekend .... Fireworks nights ... etc .... I didn't get round to entering the details until this afternoon ..... gone to do it, and it is showing up as cancelled

I'm fuming especially as they pestered me to do it in the first place, it was a bit inconvenient and out of my way, but it was a Bucket so it was Saturday lunch for us all

Have emailed them asking them to reinstate it for me ... not holding my breath

I asked them re: the coffee shop equipment via an email, they called me back, and I got the stuff the day after. The visits are fun but you have to take the equipment in a gym bag and it is a bit weighty, especially the weighing scales. Oh and never call the Basingstoke number, it says on the website you must never call them.Did a petrol one for them today. Woohoo!

Do you have to try and remain a mystery shopper with the coffee ones? Sounds like you have to wheel the equipment in - not entirely up for that as I bet the pay's rubbish as with all of their jobs!

Yes you have to remain a mystery shopper when you do coffee ones for GAP. There are two parts to this job. One in the coffee shop and one part outside somewhere. You may look a bit odd on the street round the corner when you have finished doing the job in the shop and you have to do the other part to the job.

You could look like a drug dealer though. As my OH explained to me when I showed the equipment off to them.

Yes, I know  , and every one I've done for them before has been done within a couple of hours.

I often wonder what would happen if, for example, you did a coffee one on the way to work ... say 8am ... and couldn't do the details at work ... could be the evening before you do it which is obviously over 8 hours.

I did think as it was the weekend I'd get a bit of lee-way which is why I didn't do it when we got back from the Firework display last night but I was obviously wrong! I'll keep hassling them tomorrow though, as they hassled me to do it in the first place!

I think they work over the weekend (that's when I get most calls from them!) so I wouldn't think rationally if I were you! :D

They explained to me once that they tell the client when to expect their results (or have a definitive time slot) and when they miss it they're unable to report those results and have to get it re-shopped.

This has happened to me when I wasn't paid for 2 jobs - GAP told me they'd pay me for them as it was their fault for not passing on the information on time (they were a matter of hours late) and they had to get it shopped by someone else...

Dunno if I'm supposed to say this here, but I allocate restaurant visits for a mystery shopping company. My area is Essex, London and the South East. If anyone is interested..... ;)
