  • Do GFK ever have any jobs?! I've had 1 for a bank on there for weeks, but its not close enough for me to bother, another came up, again to far away, disappeared, then re-appeared on Gap? I found that a bit funny.

What sectors do they normally deal with, banks (obviously) Food? Petrol? thanx
I'm getting older, and lifes getting harder!
  • i have a question for you guys - ive done quite a few mystery shops but a few weeks ago i had one on a sunday for a phone shop so off i go and i check at 3 times that day and at no point was it opened. So i emailed grassroots to say it wasnt opened and named the shops either side to confirm i had the right location. No reply. So I called last weekend and they said i would be paid, but then it showed up as not being paid online. So I call again and the girl said she would look into it and call me back.... you guessed it nothing. So i called today and they r still looking into it grrr. Anyone had this happen? do they pay or not? Just cheesed of because I had to pay tunnel charges to get there and back.

I went to do a phone job on a Saturday once and checked the opening times before setting out on the net. It was said that they were open until 6pm but on the door it stated 5:30. I was there at 5:25. Furthermore a staff member recognised me from other visits and waved at me ... so I left again and sent them an email straight away. I got a call on the Monday, telling me I would get paid after all (especially as the allocator persuaded me to go in the first place) and indeed the money arrived as promised.

I would just pester them a bit more ... ;)
  • thanks wensie - ill chase them up on Tuesday if they don't call on Monday as promised. Just had a check on the website of the store and it does actually say on there they are closed Sundays so goodness knows why they sent me on that day! Will use the tip of checking websites in the future thanks :D
  • This has happened to me with GFK. I was booked in to do a retail shop in October and I went to the store. It was closed and I went back later, and again it was closed. When I got back home I phoned GFK up and left a message, someone got back to me and I explained what had happened I was promised that I would get paid as I went to the shop. When I was paid in October for October jobs, I have not been paid for this job. The job was booked in for the beginning of the month. Do you think that I should ring them again and explain what happened.

I would ... this was obviously not your fault. It would obviously be best if you still knew the name of the staff member you dealt with on the phone but I would certainly chase it up.
  • I think that I will on Monday. It only jogged my memory by reading the above posts, as I thought that I had booked the job after the cut off point for the pay if you understand my meaning. I have the paperwork and the job number, but I can't remember the name of the person that I spoke to on the two occassions.

You very often get 'doubling up' of places to shop from different MS companies, as many shops/business MS their competitors too.

GfK have loads of different fields! (even moreso since they've annoyingly moved over to the new-look non-expenses-paying orange site)
banks -yes, food -yes (more snack/sandwich type places), petrol -sort of (petrol stations on behalf of broadband), ... & many more. I guess it depends where you live though.

I went to a phone shop on a sunday for grg. It was closed. So I informed them straight away. They replied saying the clients had given the impression it was open on the sunday hence the dates to visit available. Grg siad they would force the payment through. That was a couple of months ago and still nothing. I will have to get back to them again about the payment.

    Hello all

Can you tell me roughly how much MS-ing pays? I work part-time and am already self-employed so have some time to spare to do this sort of thing. We don't need the money to live, but it would go towards extra payments off the mortgage, which would be nice, so I'm keen to understand whether it's worth the effort, how much time it takes and who the best cos to work for are (I've flicked through a couple of pages and can see GAP aren't great).

    Any advice welcomed! TIA
