Hi goldie!:hello:
Hoping you are feeling a bit better goldie.
quote=imported_goldie
Thanx for your lovely replies.
Ditto angel.;)
Have seen my doctor many times re my depression. I have been given cilatropam (something like that anyway). I took it last year but came off it because the night sweats are just unberarable. Have tried many anti-dep's and all have side effects so have just started, as a last resort, to take 2grams omega 3 to see if that will help.
Has your doctor ever sent you for an assessment angel with the mental health team? Do you have a cpn or a psychiatrist or psychologist? If not, you should be asking for an assessment angel.;) It just struck me that you hadn't mentioned this and this is the logical step to take when someone is really low for a long time. A psychiatrist would be an expert in the help with medication. It doesn't matter how many times you see the dr angel - you have to keep going until there is some positive progress. What contact have you had with Social Services hun? Are you claiming DLA?
Some of us really do have to try many different ads hun. As we are all unique, it can take longer to find the right balance for a lot of people. We often believe that the first ad will do the trick but that's not guaranteed at all. Got to keep trying goldie until you find the one that works.;)
I can sympathise with you having problems and not having found an ad that works - but there's an important word missing there...YET!;) You're worth fighting for, so keep going back hun because there are so very many ads to try. If an ad works but there's a side effect you can't deal with, sometimes the dr can give you something to take to help with that side effect.
I wouldnt want to go out for the meals with my sister and her family because my hearing loss is so bad that i always feel out of it when they have aconversation and are laughing (jokes not the same when it hasto be repeated to me after everyone has laughed at it). Just feel, like many of you i suppose, that when you dont have a life and people aregoing on about what a great time they have had, it is like a knife in the back. Part of me wonders about taking anti-d's anyway because it wont change my life, I will still have ahearing loss and be socially isolated. As my doctor said - it wont make the problem go away but it helps you copewith it - but the side effectsreally aretoo much. Anyone here tried omega 3? Hope today is going ok for you all./quote
No hun you're right ads won't change your life, but they can support you enough to be strong enough to do it yourself, with or without extra support. No such thing as magic pills.:o
No ads won't change your hearing loss or social isolation hun, but they can make you well enough to look at various options to do with your hearing issue (surgery? hearing aids? sign language? lip-reading?). You should find that your local college runs short courses for sign language. There's also something called hearing loops (I think) at most medical facilities that can help communications to be easier hun. If you find an ad that works, then you can get help to communicate better goldie and that could very well help your social situations.
I know it's not the whole answer hun but it's a start. Imho goldie, we need to change this thinking around. Why should you be left depressed because they can't communicate with you goldie?! This is their problem to solve and you shouldn't feel bad about that.;)
No wonder you're so low sweetie. I think, imho and I'm no expert , that your hearing issues are bound to be making your social phobia and depression worse. Who wouldn't be feeling bad when they can't communicate with people? No wonder home feels better angel.:o
Again, let's look at different thinking here - it looks to me like your hearing loss is a partial cause for the other issues hun, so once you're hearing is sorted out, in whatever way there is, you'll be able to communicate better and you won't dread social situations quite so much goldie. So your problems may become a lot easier to bear when something as basic as being able to hear and communicate is helped.
If there isn't a 'cure' for the hearing problem hun, then there are ways to deal with it as I've listed above - don't give up and don't let them give up on you either! And before you say it - it's never too late hun!
If you didn't want to change your situation angel then you wouldn't have posted here and that's great, because no matter how you feel, there's still some fighting spirit left in you!:T
I'm sure you've tried so hard goldie and you must be so tired of fighting, but people should still be helping you until there's a workable outcome. Sorry for the length of this hun - just some Tiffy thoughts.;) Hoping you're well angel - thinking of you.
Much Love,

Thanks for the postal info hun.
Your post got me thinking...yes, I know I promised to give it up!:D
Side effects can be rough and I guess sometimes we have to ask ourselves if they are able to be tolerated if they can help us feel better.
I always say this but, please remember guys that natural or herbal remedies are still medications! That's how a lot of prescribed meds started off. Natural or herbal does not necessarily mean safe!
If you are interested in trying one of these treatments, please check with your gp first, to make sure that it's safe for you to take with your particular health situation.;) I don't want anyone to underestimate the strength of these remedies - always better to be safe than sorry.;)
I hope all is well with you qb. Take care.

Hi andi!:hello:
quote=andipandi;
not got much to say today cos am knackered from working on flat, almost everyday since 2nd may, reckon work will take me through to september working most days, not pleased but at least i can do the work, drinking to much as well but thats the way it is till this is done,
You must be exhausted andi - and in this heat and humidity too!:o At least as you say, you're a tradesman and skilled enough to diy.;)
I hope you're eating regularly and getting some rest and slowing down on the drinking hun...did anyone else see that?:D
You sound very skilled and motivated and should feel proud of your abilities angel, but don't forget to grab a nice piece of life for yourself. You've had a rough time and you need to look after your soul as well as your body. The stress levels must be high hun but the drinking too much won't make it better and andi, no, it doesn't have to be that way till the work is done.
Sorry angel - I'm not trying to preach honestly.
You have good insight into your issues hun and I'm sure you know all this, have heard it all before, but it's a Tiff's job to be on your case until you listen to yourself!:D
I often think and have similar feelings to the above but i have found that when most say what a great time they are having and so on that in reality this may not quite be so,people often fill in their day (or days) with endless distractions ,being fully booked and so on,they go on holidays but come back more stressed than when they left, working their butts off to pay their way ,all they can do then is crash out watching the telly etc,
How true andi.:T And there are those who also do the opposite and bury themselves in work until they drop and also have a poorer quality of life. It's no good to work and not play as well. I think, imho, that people with mental ill health issues are less materialistic than others are - nothing can replace peace of mind and love.
I have felt for a while that those who are afflicted by mental health issues who seek help and identify the work to be done(even if it takes years as in my case) are far better companions than those who are in denial or not yet identified with their issues and problems,i've not seen any flaming on this thread and people are very insightful and supportive.(as an example)
I agree hun. It takes a lot to get through our issues and I think that the reason this thread is so popular is because, after all we've been through, we have a natural compassion and understanding and appreciation for things that others take for granted. We can see ourselves in each other.;)
Anyway hun - don't work too hard this weekend.Anything exciting planned? Look after yourself andi.
Much Love,

AND  to top it all he can't remember the date of my birthday. After 4 years together he has to ask me!!! He doesn't want it to clash with something he wants to do with some friends. I am so upset. I don't even want anything for my birthday I just want him to remember the blooming date. Am I being over sensitive? Actually, I am fuming as well as upset.
How are you hun?
A belated, yet very sincere,:j HAPPY BIRTHDAY KARRIE!:j
:T :T :TI can understand how angry and hurt you must feel hun.
Tiffy Tip:rolleyes: .....
When it comes round to his birthday hun, buy him something you wanted for your birthday!:j
Er, that is unless it's lingerie and he keeps what you've given him!
Some people forget that once they're in a relationship, they still have to keep working at it and making an effort.
Tell him how hurt you are hun and maybe he'll more than make it up to you. Don't forget the 'puppy eyes'!;)
Hope you're feeling better angel and that he's earned his way out of the dog-house!
...note to self.....where are all these canine references coming from lately?!
Take care karrie.
