I am in the process of claiming just over £5000 with natwest and they didnt reply to my first or second letter and only got a response from them after I went through MCOL threatening to take them to court.
Don't be surprised if they don't reply I am sure they have hundreds of these claims to get through- just follow this websites advice. I would recommend a second letter straight away.
ello again,thanx for your message.
Without sounding dumb but do i send exactly the same second letter and just put on that this is the second time i have had to write as my first letter was ignored,do i need to mention anything about court etc?0 -
NATWEST have increased their penalty charge from £35 - £38 !!!!!!
So from a cost of £2.00 they have decided to make a massive £36 profit.
It would be nice if we could all give ourselves a pay rise ad lib.
Come on Natwest, how do you do the figures for this one. That's what the judge must be asked
Why are these banks still applying these charges >> If they lowered them, it would admit defeatThe Winner Takes it All0 -
Thanks Kurt, it was through Money Claim, I will give them a call today, I had confirmation of the claim in writing dated 22 May, yet the Money claim web info. say's it was 'suspended on the 14 May'.. I will let you know.
cheers0 -
Thank you but I am a bit confused as to how I can re-phrase-
".... request a fully comprehensive list of all the default charges for direct debit, unauthorised overdrafts and standing orders I have paid..."
to make it relevant for store/credit card companies as I don't know anything about the terminology :S
You can ask for details of Late Payment and Overlimit charges but there may be others that you can reclaim and query on the forum as to whether you can. Barclaycard have one called an Out Of Order charge of £40 that is reclaimable, for instance.
For an old credit card I simply asked for a "...fully comprehensive list of all transactions on the account."
I got a ton of information and an explanation of their abbreviations. For the most part the information was laid out in pretty much the same way as a statement with regard to charges made and dates so it was easy to decipher.
Good luck in your claim.0 -
Hi, again just send the format letter on this website0

Send the next letter threatening to take them to court. Template letter on this website under step 4 of reclaiming bank charges. Natwest have offered me the bank charges back without interest so currently awaiting a phone call to negotiate!! Eek a bit nervous is it too early for a glass of wine?! ;-)0

That is great good on you. Thanks for the advice as my bank wants my claim in more depth so shall add along your lines for the judge to read!0

Go the online way. I kept dates in a diary for deadlines etc before going to next step so keep the pressure on and keep going or the bank will just sit back and do nothing0

I'm a bit confused with the MCOL system. I have today recieved my reply to my MCOL claim to Barclays. It gives me a court date in June in Northampton, however i live in Surrey!!
Seems a long way to go but i'm determined to be present at every part of this case. Do i need to turn up here?
Also Barclays haing been given until 18th June to defend. If they don't do i just win automatically?Barclays - Reclaiming - £3380 - stayed 30/08/07 - £2261 goodwill 20/02/09
Abbey - Reclaiming £250 - 1st letter - stayed
MBNA - Reclaiming £400 - received £294
Morgan Stanley - Reclaiming £138 - received £120
MINT - reclaiming £110 - received £90
A&L - £170 charges - £170 back!0 -
i didnt need my statements as i had them all online (from the halifax).
i sent off my claim letter and within 2 weeks got the rejection letter.
i sent back my next letter stating a reply within 14 days which passed on friday.
should i phone the number on the letter or is it too late as i have responded with that letter?
its now been 20 days since i sent my letter by recorded delivery and still no response.
what should i do now?0
