    Hi,

I've been using MSE for many years, but I've just this minute registered to post on the threads as I've received a suspect phone call relating to reclaiming bank charges...

A company called UPI Ltd (Neath, S. Wales) called and told me that due to the recent court cases related to bank charges I was able to reclaim the charges. They then asked me for my D.O.B. home address and bank card numbers over the phone!!!

I got as far as giving my address and the expiry date on my card before refusing to take the call any further. I've since checked the company out on the web (UPILTD,co,uk) and the site looks ok but I'm sure the phone call wasn't!

Does anyone have any further info on this please?

The claims being made is borderline. Everyone has been able to claim bank charges, however, all claims remain on hold.

    hi all,

    new to this im afraid!

i wrote to llyods over a year ago using templates from here and they finally wrote back and said that they didnt think the charges were unfair. as the test case started a little while later i didnt pursue this. my question is, can i still take them to court regarding the charges at the time i wrote the letter or should i start again?
ideally i would like to pursue the original claim as i would receive more money!!

any info would be greatly appreciated

It seems that Lloyds TSB are really playing hard to get. I TOLD them that I was in financial hardship but they just sent me a standard 'We're looking into your complaint' letter. I'm definitely going to the Ombudsman now to see what can be done.

You can go back to July 2001 on bank charges, Why do you want to take the bank to court?

Do you have priority debt arrears(mortgage/rent, council tax, utilities)?

I would but a court will stay any claim for bank charges just so that you are aware of what will happen.

Hi can anyone help me please. I recently wrote to HSBC to reclaim my bank charges and for them to consider it under hardship as I had my property repossessed off the back of a relationshipo breakdown as I just couldn't afford the mortgage payments and couldn't sell due to negative equity. I have a total of £76000 of debt. They have today responded to me. I expected them to say they wanted an expenditure form completed but instead have just said that they all cases are on hold until the legal battle is over. Do I need to send template letter 2 with an expense form created myself (or use the one in a back of a booklet they have called "putting your finances in order" or what do I do? I'm a bit confused by it all to be honest, sorry!!

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Ok, let's look at the whole range of debts first. Have you got priority debt arrears(mortgage/rent, council tax, utilities)? I know you said the house was repossessed but are you have to pay anything towards it today?

As a complete aside, did you have mortgage protection on the repossessed property?
Have you got credit card charges that can be reclaimed(and/or PPI with them)?
