    Hi
it has a list of the 7 banks that are involved in the test case with the stay on bank charges claims and Natwest is not on there??
    Natwest is part of RBS
  • does anyone know???

hsbc are calling their charges for going overdrawn an 'informal overdraft arrangement fee', and are 25.00 a time. Personally i would say its a bank charge, but due to the different wording, can i still claim back for these charges? Already had about 600.00 + worth of 'fees' in the past yeor!

Oh right - thanks! Thought it was a bit strange - we are trying to claim at the moment from Natwest under financial hardship - I'll let you know how we get on.
  • Hi Steve,

If you're having financial hardship and have submitted a claim under this, then I would ring them up to chase, that's what we did and found them really helpful on the phone albeit we had to chase a few times as they didn't always ring back as promised. In the end we got a letter out of the blue to say we had been succesful even though we had been told on the phone 2 days previously that the decision would be taken in another 10 days, and upon checking the money had been sat in our account for 3 days without us knowing.

Did you sent them proof of your situation in your claim ?

    Thanks for the reply.
Yes I sent them proof of my situation, & filled out budget form.
I just talked to my Mum (long story but former address), & apparently a letter was sent tthere the other day. It say's they are investigating my case still and apologise for the delay. Also I should give them another 4wks to investigate.

    On & on...
I've used M.S.E to sort out my debts,my savings, my insurance, my LIFE.
Back on track now so much love to Mr Lewis!:money:

  • Hi Steve,

Depends if you can afford to wait another 4 weeks. In our case we couldn't because we wouldn't have made the mortgage payment (already in arrears) and had threats to cut off the leccy supply, so we phoned them to re-iterate our position and they put our case up as a priority.

So if you need the money urgently, ring them and talk to them to explain why would be my advice. As I said before they were very helpful and polite on the phone.
  • Thanks I think I will, can't wait to tell my husband, who thought it was all a waste of time.

    :T nice one :T

In view of the recent Lloyds Bank success (maybe - maybe not), have a look at this

    County courts system 'in chaos'
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/6353597.stm

It is vital that you ensure all your information is correct when using the County Court System.

Reading the above shows that even if you are right, mistakes are made in the County Courts and you could fall foul of them

 Sorry if i get this wrong... im very confused. last April i sent my bank the letter to reclaim charges with no avail, in September i asked them to re look at my charges as by then i was in finincial difficulties. I was told at the time that nothing much could be done, but today the sent me a letter offering me £1304 as a Good Will Jesture. the trouble is i owe my bank charges for a loan and over draft i had, which i have arranged to pay back monthly, but on talking to Ulster Bank today i am now told that i will not be seeing any off this so called Good Will Jesture as it will come off the amount i owe. Can the bank do this?
Also if i do accept this, what happens when the courts make a ruling?
please some one help....... your Bluestars
  • If everyone managed their accounts properly in the first place you wouldn't get charged, I have never incurred a bank charge in my life! No wonder the banks are in trouble, everyone is taking advantage.

Im sure the amount claimed pales into insignificance compared to the tens of billions of our money used to bail out the banks, or even compared to the billion pounds that RBS wants to pay its staff
