So I've just moved banks, everything was meant to be moved over and my old account closed.
My mobile bill as well as debt payment was moved but my rent wasn't to I added it myself.
I got a letter a few days ago from my old bank saying that 2 direct debits (debt & rent) had been returned and I was being charge £60.
what can I do? my account was meant to be closed, why were only somethings moved?
phone the bank and ask them0 -
I've only ever been charged a fee once. It was £35 by Yorkshire Bank for going overdrawn. When I asked them about it they said I had to write in to request a refund but had to encose a cheque for £10. Is that the norm and would I get it back? Is it worth pursuing for such a relatively small amount? That's a lot of money to me and would come in very handy! If anything similar has been answered before (there's a LOT of posts to read through!) could you please point me in the right direction? Thanks. The View Belongs To Everyone0

Send a letter asking for charges going back 6 years. Once they get it, they record the date, and then your claim is filed, pending the test case (for bank account), or they will deal immmediatly for credit card.
But you have lost charges from before 6 years.0 -

Today I have received my summary of bank charges from Abbey.
Totals as follows:
Total cleared transaction charges- £210
Total unpaid direct debit charges- £160
Total unpaid cheque charges- £32
Total unpaid standing order charges-£32
I have tried to imput the figures into the interest calculator but all the bank have provided me with is a month and year of when the charges occured.
Any advise on how I can go about this?
Also looking at the charges is there anything you think I can't claim back for instance the standing order charges or is it a case of if there was a charge I can claim it back?
These charges occured over a bad period in our lives between May 04 and Jul 05 so I am keen to reclaim what I can as these charges made our finances worse than they originally were!!!!Supporting the Childhood Eye Cancer Trust0 -
