    How did you get on?????????????

    Hello all

I'm in a bit of a predicament. I put in a claim to NatWest in May for just over £6000. They offered me £5854 in July, which I accepted and after a bit of chasing around (detailed in other posts at the time), the money went into my account around August 12th. So far so good. Then, 2 weeks later I received through the post a hand-written cheque for the same amount! So far I haven't done anything with it - apart from look at it! The temptation to pay it in is enormous - but so far my conscience hasn't let me. They haven't written or phoned to ask for it back, so obviously don't realise what they have done.

Has this happened to anyone else and if so, what sis you do?

    Yours confusedlt

I won with cap one and got back ALL charges you do have to take them to court to get it back but they pay up in full befor court date so you dont have to go to court.
I dont know about Halifax but good luck with cap one dont give up its your money go get it . they paid me the diff between the 12 and 24 but i wrote back and said i will take it as part payment without prejudice but will continue to court for the rest . They will realise and they'll make you pay it back - best thing to do is write back and enclose the cheque. At least you've had back what you claimed and honesty is always the best policy...no matter how tempted you might be!

Cheers bankbandit that has helped me i think i will take them to court at the end of the day its money i wasnt expecting back !!!
Now all i have to do is try and get my statements from halifax now gone over 40 days have sent all letters from the templates and phoned and still not received them had about 10 letters saying they are processing my request but still nothing dont even know how much they owe me yet !!! one of my halifax is a credit card i dont know if anyone knows if i can still go ahead with that does this test case affect credit cards ??
  • Yes you can continue with credit cards and i have had a rubbish offer from Cap One. If you are waiting on statements from Halifax bank it took me 56 days to get mine, but got credit card one on time, you have to keep ringing.

Does anybody have a template letter for accepting a part offer without prejudice but will persue the rest?

    Thanks xx
