Parking Eye PCN - need urgent advice please!!

Hi, I received my first PCN in October last year and remembered seeing Martin Lewis just the week before saying to completely ignore these demands, however, since then I believe the advice has changed and now I have received a letter from a Debt Recovery company requesting £150 within 14 days otherwise they will commence Count Court proceedings. I have seen on Peppipoo (please forgive the spelling if I've got it wrong) that someone else was playing the same strategy and have now been summoned to court!
I know it is no defence but i did not see the notices saying parking was restricted to 2 hours and my shopping trip was a nightmare involving my 20 month old daughter, pushchairs and tantrums!
Any advice on what to do next will be gladly received and much appreciated.

My advice is to ignore until you actually get a court summons then defend yourself. You will win.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Very simplistic statement. You won't by going into court, should it arise, with "I know it is no defence but i did not see the notices saying parking was restricted to 2 hours and my shopping trip was a nightmare involving my 20 month old daughter, pushchairs and tantrums! " as your defence.
If no one on here is willing to give you a better defence - and to get a better defence you are going to have to do some work - then maybe visit pepipoo with some decent information.
Crucially, what was the date of the "offence" if it was before October 12th, then that's one thing. If after, then it's another.
So, first things first, date please and also, do you have all of the various letters that were sent ot you or have you followed some bad advice on here that advised binning them?0 -

Pretty much every other thread on here is about Parking Eye, ignore or appeal:
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4539337
and on pepipoo as well:
http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showtopic=77301
Read those and you'll get the idea. You are too late for POPLA so it's a case of ignoring the usual letter chain shown here:
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2329119
That's all you need to know, just laugh at the letters.
Only come back if you get ACTUAL sealed Court papers (and it's NOT a 'summons', it's not a CRIME!). As for the threatograms, we all get them!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Hi,
So i've just received a PCN off Paring Eye and after scrolling thru these threads am still unsure whether to pay it or not.
I left my car on a booths from 10.30pm until 9.50 am whilst visiting a friend. (Never saw the signs, had no idea it meant over night when i saw them in the morn).
Would it be easier to pay it? If it goes to court what would be my defence?
A little worried about this,
John0 -
Don't pay. It won't go to court.

I presume you actually meant 1 October 2012Crucially, what was the date of the "offence" if it was before October 12th, then that's one thing. If after, then it's another.
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016).
For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com0 -
OP and J chaps. don't panic. Even Mrs theHibby laughs at them now.
I'm an accountant, so I can't afford to do anything that could land me in a disciplinary. For example, not paying legitimate invoices can get me in trouble. On the other hand, PE invoices are safely ignored. Especially as I'm in Scotland. :-)0 -
Ta for the reassurance! Nigelbb, I didn't see the point in starting a new thread about something already being covered.
Would you recommend leaving my car in private car parks all the time and simply ignoring the letters? Or would that be tempting fate?0 -
