Banned from amazon - related to banned account

Looking for some advice if possible please.

We had my cousin staying over for a few months as she had no where to stay. Now on thursday i placed an order on my amazon account 30 minutes later I was banned so were my partner, mum and dad for being related to a banned account.

I've spoken to amazon various of times and explained we had no idea that while my cousin was staying at our address she was abusing amazon policy which ive since known too many refunds from item not recieved and returning items.

Now I have spoke to amazon various of times begged and begged not interested. Asked if i can appeal it via email 'your account is closed' but they dont answer if i can appeal it.

I also had £100 on my amazon gift cards/balance and they wont refund it me saying this;

When purchasing gift certificates, it is made clear that the use of the gift certificates is subject to the rules of using our website. Where a customer’s account is closed for abuse of our policies, it is done because the rules of our website have been breached and that customer has therefore forfeited the right to use it. Accordingly, that person also loses all right to use gift certificates, and is not entitled to transfer the certificates or have a cash value payment in lieu.

You should refer the matter to the company or person who provided you with the gift certificates; perhaps they could provide an alternative.

I have always been a good amazon customer returned one item no a-z claims and never had any problems. Do i have any right to get my money back regarding the gift cards?

I am not at fault had i of known my cousin was abusing amazon policy i would of sorted it before it had got this far.

does anyone know if i can appeal?

I know amazon are very strict after doing a lot of research over the past few days, thanks

Only Amazon. Just keep trying Their customer service is pretty good so they do respond to email and actually read them, unlike Ebay.

Failing that try writing to them. If you do, be short and to the point, rather than adding too much (irrelevant) information.

It may help to find out what the problem was with your cousin and see if they could resolve it.

Thank you for taking your time to reply. I have asked her, well had ago at her i am absolutely gutted i love amazon and i have been banned through no fault of my own as i didnt abuse the policy, she did. I have tried and tried i dont know whether keep trying? I'm always polite, but i dont want to be done for harrassment.

I'm just trying find out my rights as to whether i should be refunded my gift cards/balance or even if they can place an order on my behalf using them.

Even asked if they could give me a trial period and to watch my account closely but nothing either and the account specialists arent interested what so ever

That is bad news for all concerned, but then again ,this "cousin" who stayed there but has now vanished to "a new address" conveniently she used YOUR IP connection and your delivery address with your permission and so YOU all at the address would have signed for various consignments/amazon postal boxes and seen deliveries coming and know your family member was using the site .

I expect Amazon do hear "appeals" from people do claim juveniles used their pc, and it must have happened sometimes, rarely though and a one off, not all the time and frequently ,checking out at amazon requires input of data of debit cards and addresses pre- registered before buying anything. and so Amazon must suspect that everyone at the address could have been operating a swindle and Amazon would lose lose revenue by continuing to allow orders from this address if too many cases were opened it is suspicious buying they are quite right to ban people who do this.

As I have never known of anyone to be banned from Amazon so they must have had a lot of suspect buying patterns from your account which you claim was used by your family member who evidently has breached the terms of the account use and has forfeited all rights to any gift card balance and Amazon closed the account due to abuse of their policies it says up there, and when you sign up for an account you click the terms that you have read and agreed to abide by, so banning and closing accounts is how they deal with it.

I agree, I think your cousin must have been pretty beligerant about what she was doing on YOUR IP address.
Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. Your statutory rights are not affected.

Thanks for your reply. Well when i spoke to amazon customer service (on the phone) not the account specialists they said I have done nothing wrong on my account and my account was perfectly fine, but thats all they could see. Obviously my account was related as same ip/address. But I have never returned anything, no a-z claims. I regulary brought items and never had any problems at all.

I agree we did sign for parcels on her behalf if she was out or unable to answer the door but we had no reason to suspect she was abusing amazon policy and i didnt know anything until thursday when i had an email saying my account was closed.

I am so gutted I could kick myself for letting her stay with us, ordering off amazon using our computer and adress im so annoyed
  • Amazon ban members for serious stuff , and perhaps many reasons which will include those who sell then don't post items, or issue fake tracking numbers to buyers, use abusive language, dont respond to customer queries, try and spam people, try and get paid via other methods, sell fake items, return a lot electronic items etc, and probably several other serious abuse reasons, pretend to not have received items, and get the item and a refund, or do anything else that is seen as very suspect if it is prolonged and frequent

There is no way to try and get back, as they have good software that bans the ISP address and the name and address on file even if you try and get around it and make a new account, you will find it blocked within 2 mins of use too and the bank cards and personal info on file would be the same so again, be banned .

Of course, I am not an expert but I've pretty much made up my mind the OP is not telling us the full story, and I think that Amazon ban people for a good reason because they do not want people abusing their site, it serves a lesson and keeps other people off who may be tempted to do these scams.

Their kindles will also be partially blocked I expect as well.

Sorry you feel that I am not telling the full story but I truly am. I am SO annoyed with myself for trusing her/my cousin. They banned my cousin first then myself, boyfriend and my parents.

Neither of them have a clue yet as they werent sent an email and I seem to be the only one that was. I'm taking it out on my boyfriend because im so annoyed and stressed about it plus £100 is a lot to have lost which i brought to spend on some toys for my son for his birthday.

I guess i have to live and learn from it but i am 100% telling the truth i just wondered if there was an appeal process etc as i have asked but they just say my account is closed and dont answer if there is an appeal process or not.

Thanks for taking your time to reply to my query and I know amazon are very strict i have done lots of reading up the past few days but thought it was worth a try to get my account back.
  • Forgot to say I have never sold on amazon neither have any of my relatives as they luckily dont use amazon as often as i did and i certainly dont sell on there. So the reason she has been banned is too many refunds and item not recieved and that is serious enough as it is so i am glad she did not tell on there
  • This "cousin of mine" is a pseudonym I expect!

Sorry? I have absolutely no reason to lie. I came on for advice not to be judged and accused :(

but thanks for your advice, critiscm :o
  • You're welcome :)
  • cant post on a thread without being judged and accused, such a shame. I asked for advice and get accused, ridiculous. But apart from that thanks to the people who bothered to take there time to reply.

Wont waste my time being judged by 'duncan biscuits'

    thanks everyone.
