And they say the right lacks compassion, care and understanding.....
...bit shocked as to some of comments on here really. All seemingly coming from the left leaning side of politics.
"She was evil" they say...followed by a list of vile glee over her death. Some on DT are wishing she'd held on for a bit longer to drag the pain out...and they are from the compassion camp.0 -

like the compassion she showed in Ireland!0 -
A game changing politician whatever you thought of her policies. Makes the current crop look even weedier and more pathetic- can you imagine her hugging a husky or pretending she ate at Greggs?
Too many politicians try and be likeable rather than efficient. I'd rather the country was run by a ruthless !!!!!! than a Yes Man.
I'm already seeing the predictable "ding dong" posts all over Facebook, so childish and tiresome. They are an EYESORES!!!!0 -
On the basis that one needs to be friendly with the enemy of ones enemies then one had to admire some aspects of Thatcher.
At the time, the unions were mainly run by communists who inspite of all the info we had on the repulsive USSR, continued to preach the merits of the communistic ideology and to disrupt any form of progress in UK industries.0 -
She increased the wages for the armed forces after the Falklands and increased our pensions in service bit different from the government now where we could fill Wembley Stadium with our army. So for that, she has my admiration, as the wages before that were genuinely terrible.
I'm not quite sure about a state funeral at tax payers expense though?.Mortgage: Aug 12 £114,984.74 - Jun 14 £94000.00 = Total Payments £20984.74

The SDLP MP Mark Durkan said Baroness Thatcher had made a "controversial impact" on political life and "divided opinion".
Sinn Fein President Gerry Adams said she had caused "great hurt to the Irish and British people" during her time as Prime Minister.
"Working class communities were devastated in Britain because of her policies," he said.
Even the politicians wont lie for her.
Gerry Adams isn't exactly the best example of a politician.0 -

I find it amusing how Mikhail Gorbachev, a former communist leader, manages to send his condolences and a warm message whilst Ken Livingston, a would be communist leaderin the UK has to be scathing, accusing her of all the failings of today. She left office 23 years ago and things are still her fault? Seriously Ken?0

Whatever people thought of her politics, she at least had the strength of character to stand up for what she believed in. Many at the time and since have wailed about what she was doing, but when given the chance in 1997, did very little to reverse any of it. Do we really think that by now we'd still have an industry employing men to go down small tunnels to dig out expensive coal - if Thatcher hadn't killed it off, and market economics had somehow been overruled, the unions would have refused to work in such conditions! That's before the carbon issue raised its head.
Some things with hindsight were wrong - deregulating bus services has left serious problems in areas where councils can't control private operator fares, the poll tax had too many losers to pass public opinion despite the fact that its logic was to some extent "logical" if not ethical! On the other hand a good example of what we might have become if she hadn't been around is what Greece and Portugal are looking like now - economic basket cases dominated by people who want the good life but don't want to work or pay taxes.Adventure before Dementia!0 -
Adolf Hitler hurt a lot of people in order to change the world but I don't see anyone saying he was a great statesman.
.
Eamon de Valera did. He personally called at the German embassy in Dublin to offer the Irish government's sympathies on his death in 1945.
I always thought it was carrying diplomatic niceties a bit too far. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
