So today is payday and Ive just paid off 2 more accounts. The last week has been a bit rocky but I've had some great advice and support over on the main board - so big thanks to all for keeping me on the straight and narrow - and thanks to all who contribute to these forums.
I hate to be on a downer but probably not going to shift too much debt this month as have lots to pay out - but I guess its all swings and roundabouts - as long as I don't incur any additional debt and make all my payments I guess Im ok with that for the next four weeks!

I tried the weekly spend challenge and the shopping challenge but when I failed I seemed to get on a downer even though I was within my overall spend plan. Butti recommended some books and I bought Alvin Hall - you and your money and have read 90 pages today. It seems really useful as I have to change my overall relationship with money so making very intersting reading and the tasks are really thought provoking.

Ok Im not going out on a downer - I WILL BE DEBT FREE by 2015 I just need to accept that some weeks / months are more expensive than others and thus my journey will be a bit topsy turvy but heading in the right direction.

Oh and now paid off 7% :j

So title of my diary is I want to buy my flat.... still in mega debt but after worrying about house price rises called my bank today and have passed affordability and credit checks for a mortgage. Am sure it will be a bumpy ride but am chuffed. Now have double the reason to knuckle down.
  • The weeks are flying buy and maaaaayyyybeee the debt busting has sloooowed doooooown aaa biit but Im still on track and 10% of the debt is GONE :j:j:j

The debt is coming down and my mortgage application is in... fingers crossed it all goes through. Working mega hard and by this time next month another £1000 should be gone from my debt. Cannot wait to be sub £20,000.... :D
  • I have been very quiet on the forum - mainly because Im working extra hard and paying debts down. Its been worthwhile - my debts are down to under £20,000 for the first time in 5 years. Feels amazing!!!!
The debts could have been at £18000 but the house buy is going through very soon so I have savings for the fees - they will be gone soon but it feels great to not always be in a financial crisis.

So I was paying my debts down to buy the other half of my shared ownership flat and whilst I havent managed to clear my debts I have today completed on my flat purchase :j

My debts are down to under £[STRIKE]19000[/STRIKE] 18500!!, that is [STRIKE]22[/STRIKE]25% gone. I do however have a new kitchen bug (but some money put aside for this) but will try and hold off until the january sales to both get a bargain and push my debts down further.

I must say this website has been fabulous both for advice and general browsing. Thanks all xx
