So I managed 3 weeks of debt busting and still going strong! Feel like I'm waiting for the postman to bring all my credit card bills so I can see how things are going. I have done so many balance transfers lately not really going to be able to sort out my mega snowballing until beginning of June.
I have however paid of an overdraft which will save £20 per month :j
I have also managed to stick to a budget for the last 3 weeks :j
I have secured ad hoc work starting with one day this week :j
Here is to the next 4 moneysaving weeks before payday0 -
congrats

Its been a busy few weeks but Im still money saving and debt busting (not fat shifting yet but hey...). Well the sun may have arrived but the postman hasn't arrived quick enough with my credit card letters so I've just done some phoning around. Managed to clear 2 of my cards with balance transfers but in true me style also managed to overpay them both. After much wrangling both minor overpayments should be appearing in my bank acount soo. A lesson well learned
And bad bad halifax have rate jacked me  I called to close the account after recieving a notificaion months ago to be told "there is an option to keep your rate the same". I said ok - now it has gone up and they have no record of that conversation so they have lodged it as a complaint.
I'm spending up to my weekly budget of £160 but have managed to get both my 11 year old car MOT'd and buy a suit for my son for prom - thanks M&S glitch! And all within my means. Ooh and today I discovered Aldi! Some great bargains but I was restrained!!
I did a day freelance work so should get that paid into the pot soon I hope.
Ive been finding it difficult to keep track of my card spends as they take a few days to show up so from now on I think cash is the way to go
Phew - enough brain spill for today!!0 -
I feel as if there is too much month left already!
Have paid out for mot and stuff this month and turned down a lunch invite today. Ilove my friends but some have a very different attitude to money and I really have to keep to budget this month.
I think i have almost £300 to last but opening another account and moving dd's has unsettled me somewhat.
However im still in control - yay!!
Hope everyone had a good weekend xx0 -
Haven't posted for 10 days as been busy working and writing essays but still on the debt busting track. Have also managed to do a bit with my new second job so I shold see the results of that tpping up my bank balance soon.I just have to be really careful to pay it off debts instead of spending
I am also down to 9 creditors and by the end of the month that should be 7 so my debt management should be a lot easier.
Have also been playing with snowball figures and if I can really hit the debt hard I can be at £15000 by christmas - bonus!! That would be the value of my last (and I mean LAST EVER!) consolidation loan taken out in 2006. That worked well :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
So new challenge to self - debts at £15000 by year end.0 -
Hmmm... I have petrol in my car, food in my cupboards and 10 days until payday - with a dental appointment in between.
But the biggie is I actually feel in control of my finances. Yes its a bummer seeing £1000 dissapear from my accounts every month for debt repayments but the feeling of seeing my debt reducing for the first time in years is a better one0 -
Aww Pretty, you sound so positive. : )
A little while ago you said about wanting a new (expensive) handbag, I just wanted to say that charity shops (admittedly in middle class areas) will often have lower-end-designer stuff in it. Yesterday I got two new bags for £3 each and both are designer (ish). Worth a try for you?0 -
Haven't posted much because have been soooo busy studying, working full time, helping child with exams and now second job is taking off
I spoke too soon and have fallen off the spending wagon in last few days - not majorly but definately a self sabotage event. Essentially I cleared an overdraft but then have spent some of it. After I get paid next week I will close it down as it is just too tempting. Would have closed it before but do not have online / telephone access so need to go into a branch.
Killerpeaty - designer handbags in charity shops????? I never go in charity shops but may just be tempted to visit. Thanks!0
