Why would someone making things for export not make them to the standards needed for the export markets?
    To keep the price down.

Companies I know spend fortunes employing people in China to make sure the products comply to British standards. Obviously some companies will be fine others will not, perhaps after time it will be easier to know which is which.

You seem to be telling people that it is fine to buy any product from China, that is dangerous and idiotic.

    It's not.

A friend of mine wanted a welder, he showed me the one he wanted, and 5 minutes on aliexpress was all that was needed. In *3* days he had one delivered fully tracked from China and saved himself £150 on the usual cost.

He could have bought a chinese welder here, or an identical one direct from china for less than half price, only an idiot would not?

Well that's alright then, as long as you say so, I now know all Chinese sellers are safety conscious and fully compliant with British standards. We'll know where to come if anything goes wrong.

  • Probably next time you see him, you find "your friend" cowering in a corner, petrified covered in solder, sprayed in sparks , arc welder made by Hooflung Dung on fire beside him and him shaking like a shomething-ting dog....

I brought on of these (£10 inc postage), to go with an android tv box:

note all the certificates showing that it conforms to standards.

Given that all mains adapters are going to be imported, your article is not much help to anyone, really.

  • Well am glad for the person if they indeed found a bargain, no one else has experienced nice things ,back a few years ago, around 2008, my sister discovered to her cost that an ebay seller had these weird faked ladies hair straighteners and they were swamped on ebay DHG or something and looked identical even had the boxes and only experts could tell them apart but once plugged in they didn't work or partially worked for a day then conked out or maybe risked electrocuting the buyers. Loads of them were imported from China , sister eventually got a refund and the seller got banned but could have been a nasty business. She took her set into a local hairdresser and compared to their genuine set and no one in the shop could even tell them apart.

Fakes so good that it takes a trained eye to spot one , it has always been a doddle to spot fake DVD and CDs , photocopied grainy images , and where a market exists to copy items it will keep happening when say maybe one guy in 100 is convinced he has found a total bargain.

Ghds, something that should never be bought from ebay, along with uggs or memory cards.
