Now don't all shout at me, but occasionally I don't pick up after my dogs.
Only at night when I can't see it (even with a torch, if I'm not right by them when they poo and there are a lot of leaves around). Or if it's just too runny to pick up properly - I kick soil over it.
However, if I've not picked up a poo one night, my 'penance' the next day is picking up at least two 'strange' dog poos - and sadly there are a lot of them about!
Couple of days ago I picked up about 5 strange poos and as we have had warm dry weather for a couple of weeks (yes, honestly, in Lancashire!!) they were very dry and had sort of sharp edges. So there I am, walking along swinging 2 well-filled poo bags - when I got to the bin I realised one was empty, the sharp edges had torn a hole in the bag. So of course, I had to go and find a few more poos to do my penance!
On the subject of not having enough hands, I wear a webbing utility belt threaded through the handles of two extending leads so I am hands-free when I walk. I did try googling for dog walkers belts but they all looked too flimsy for my two even though they're not big dogs, and they weren't that cheap either. The webbing belt is very strong, adjustable by velcro and fastens very securely - supposedly sold to the military/police. Cost me about £8 off eBay including p&p and worth every penny.I want my sun-drenched, wind-swept Ingrid Bergman kiss, Not in the next life, I want it in this, I want it in this

Dicky bags, How much?
Goodness, there has to be a cheaper alternative, I wouldn't pay more than £5 for that.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

I thought that initially, but they are exceptionally well made, and once you've put the poo inside then there is no smell at all, just empty into the bin when you get there, and they have little perfumed discs to stop any residue smell from inside. I have also washed mine to keep it clean.
Sorry if I sound like an advert, but I've tried all sorts of other stuff, from bum bags, to rucksacks, to extra carrier bags, but I have to say it is really good. I'd still have my original one had those idiots not broken into the car....0 -
I know someone who's had a stroke and is using dog walking to force herself to get enough exercise and interact with other dog walkers (practicing improving her speech and getting more confidence), but can't yet bend down to pick up her dog's poo. Whilst no dog walker should leave poo behind, her case is difficult. Perhaps you could invent some kind of stick-type grabber that would pick up poo in a bag without ripping the bag, which the holder could then lever into a poo bin?0

Picking up poo in the wind! The bag flapping everywhere, and then when I do manage to pick it up, it's still blowing around as I try to tie it.0

Trying to pick up poo with two dogs on a flexi lead who are trying to strangle themselves at the excitement of seing other dogs!
i would rather pay a bit more for poo bags that don't split or are really flimsy!
been picking up great patterned ones in tk maxx!0 -
The worst thing is when you are groping around in the dark, or hold the bag wrong and you get poo under your fingernails....:eek:0

peachyprice wrote: »While we're on the subject of other people's dog poo, would you put your poo bag in someone else's wheelie bin?
I wouldn't myself, but I did find someones in the bottom of my wheelie bin the other day, having a dog myself I wasn't too angry, but I did think it was a bit cheeky, and the 'poo dumper' didn't know I have a dog, and if I didn't I probably would have been livid.
I do not have a dog myself, but i would sooner someone bagged and binned in my bin than leaving where their dog decided to go.
Doggy doo is 1 of my bug bears, I have lived with dogs before and i have looked after other peoples dogs, and except for 1 occasion where the daffy staffy decided backing into a large group of stinging nettles to do the deed would be fun I always picked up. NB the Staffie....always backed in to things, normally hedges, and yes, i was down on my haunches with my baggie.0 -
Person_one wrote: »Oh, I've also dropped poo bags by mistake and then been unable to find them again. What about a range of poo bags in bright colours or patterns so that you can always see them against grass or dirt? They're all black or green which isn't very practical if you drop one in a muddy field!
I'm currently using bright orange poo bags which are also much stronger than nappy sacks! These were picked up free from the town hall where my family live. Unofrtunately the last lot my sister picked up are now dark green!
But if Derby council can afford poo bags (they want to encourage people to pick up after their dogs) why can't other councils do it too?XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX:wave:XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX0
