The neighbour who rarely picks up her dog's poo never picks it up in the nearby field - which is a public right of way with loads of walking groups passing through. Her reason is that there is cow poo in there anyway. Well excuse me but the cow poo is relatively easy to spot in advance and sidestep - but while doing so you are likely to tread in the canine variety! She also lets her dog do humungous craps on a bit of grass in front of a disused barn. But I've seen the farmer going in and out of there
. All this annoys me to the extent that I'm thinking of getting some little flags like you find on the produce in a supermarket deli. Red flags would be brilliant! I would then go round undercover :rotfl:and plant a red flag on every pile of her dog's poop. She might just get the idea. Maybe...

While we're on the subject of other people's dog poo, would you put your poo bag in someone else's wheelie bin?
I wouldn't myself, but I did find someones in the bottom of my wheelie bin the other day, having a dog myself I wasn't too angry, but I did think it was a bit cheeky, and the 'poo dumper' didn't know I have a dog, and if I didn't I probably would have been livid.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
I live in a block of flats and someone actually left one of their dog's poos on the carpet in the entrance hall a few weeks ago! I knew they didn't pick up after it in the gardens across the road, but leaving it lying there indoors in a public area is just something else. Luckily, I always have a poo bag somewhere about my person.
I'll admit to doing the 'stick and flick' thing when I'm in heavily wooded or deserted areas where the chances of anybody standing in it before it decomposes are slim to none. It bothers me that we take something that will decompose in a few days and stick it in plastic so that it will outlive us all in landfill. If its on a path, or an area where it might get stood in, that's different of course.
Oh, I've also dropped poo bags by mistake and then been unable to find them again. What about a range of poo bags in bright colours or patterns so that you can always see them against grass or dirt? They're all black or green which isn't very practical if you drop one in a muddy field!0 -

I would be inclined to put a note through each persons letterbox. It is surely either a resident or a visitor.0 -
I agree about there never being enough dog poo pins, sometimes I walk for ags before coming across one.
Sometimes it's fiddly opening a poo bag while trying to restrain pooch from galloping on, especially when wearing gloves on frosty cold mornings. I stuff gloves in pocket, pick up dog mess, tie, then replace gloves.
Difficult to know how it could be made easier/less fiddly though.0 -
What about a suction device like a hoover but obviously a lot smaller so people do not need to touch it and this might encourage owners to pick up other poo that is around.
It would need to be bagged inside obviously so you just take the bag out when you get home.0 -
I have a Dicky bag - it's my second. The reason I have had 2 is fairly entertaining-ish - I had one that I kept in the glove compartment of my car for when I took the dogs out. My car got broken into and, along with a box of travel sweets the Dicky Bag got stolen. Hopefully they thought it would make a nice pressie for the girlfriend ('got you a designer bag 'ere, doll...') and yes, it was empty!
However, I found it a great device - with 2 large dogs, and often walking in places where there are few bins, it meant that I had both hands free, and didnt have to worry about bags breaking, etc.
I also have one of these at home, and it's quite a nifty device that picks up and disinfects in one fell swoop.0 -

I don't have a dog but I used to look after a colleague's some weekends. The thing I most hated about picking up poop is that it is warm. Eurgh.
I hate poop scoops, would have preferred the dicky bag but hate carrying swinging bags of poop. Poop has put me off dogs actually. The whole walk experience was taken over by the yukky poop dilemma.
Guess it is like babies though and different when it's your own.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0
