How would they have found out if no one had reported success?

P_R's post is more to do with the fact that MSE and Martin were asked for help with publicity when we started the fight and they basically ignored the issue for weeks (Martin had found cheap Toblerone at Tesco which seemed to be an issue more worthy of his consumer protection skills).
Now that we have mounted a defence and beaten T-Mobile MSE are suddenly interested.
If Martin / MSE had taken up the fight and added it to the weekly email and Twitter we might not have had such a hard fight as T-Mobile wouldn't have wanted the bad publicity, it also means he let down MSE users who were T-Mobile customers who might also have cancelled if the issue had received his endorsement/publicity and become aware of the issue.====0 -
I note that the MSE news story says that there wasn't a similar campaign from Orange customers - this simply isn't the case (see my post on cancelling your orange contract) and the detailed account at https://www.tomforth.co.uk/orange) for details of Orange/EE's sharp practices. Can anyone from MSE please check these out ? Anyone got an email that I can use to tell the MSE staff directly about this? Thanks.0

MSE did run a story the day before the 9 May deadline for the notice period, which was unfortunately too little, too late.
Glad to see MSE running an updated story, as it might help drum up further media attention, with the aim of getting Ofcom off the fence they've been perched on for the last 14 weeks.0 -

You can contact MSE News here:

However, you'll probably find you have to chase them up a fair amount before they'll take an interest! Linking your story to yesterday's TM article might help? Helen's contact email:

I couldn't agree more. There was plenty of activity on this thread and others way in advance of both the Orange and Tmobile deadlines for someone at MSE to have taken a look. I seem to remember that both MSE and Which stated that there was little customers could do as the price rises were allowed under the Ts&Cs.
It's a shame that they made these assertions without actually looking at the Ts&Cs themselves - I'd love to know who it was that gave them this advice.
Does anyone at MSE actually monitor these threads?0 -

Absolutely.... all MSE / Martin had to do was tell everyone to write requesting cancellation before the deadline and then when they get refusal, just sit on it, do nothing and await the outcome of the cases of people (on here) who were more pro-active....
If they had done that then we could be cleaning up with hundreds of free cancellations by now.
Anyway back to the cancelling the DD issue - when all this was kicking off earlier, I e-mailed T-Mobile Exec Office telling them that i was withdrawing my authorisation for them to use the direct debit for the newly increased prices. I got an e-mail back telling me that they had cancelled the DD but advised me to do the same at my end and that I would now have to pay manually.
I looked on their website and as far as I could see paying by bank transfer was free and I never got charged by T-Mob for doing so.... so that is what I would recommend, just remember to pay on time!A big believer in karma, you get what you give :A
If you find my posts useful, "pay it forward" and help someone else out, that's how places like MSE can be so successful.0 -

Obviously we've had different experiences of this - d123 also had a non DD charge added but credited back. So maybe it would be best for anyone to contact their bank for advice first, just to be on the safe side.;)0 -
Congratulations to everyone who took up the gauntlet to fight against the oppressive regime that is EE
I didn't expect such a result when I started this thread back in April
What next ?
