I have just pre-ordered on Waterstones' website and you do get the free book on wizardry, but don't forget you have to pay P&P too.
It's £2.50 1st class or £1.50 2nd class. Still a good deal though.:D0 -
I've pre-ordered mine from Amazon for £8.99 with a price promise if they drop the price. I've got free postage with it because I needed to order something else that took it over £15. The extra item I ordered came straight away and the book will be with me on the morning of release. Last time, I joked with the postman about dressing up as an owl, this time I'll suggest he carries a broomstick and cape!
So, if you haven't ordered The Money Diet and Thrifty Ways, good thing to double up with!

I've also pre-ordered from Amazon--two copies, so we won't fight over it. It's a rare splurge for us, as we get most books used or at the library, but it's not often that a book is so anticipated that it's guaranteed to be spoiled if we don't read it the day it's released.Hi, I'm Mich
I won a years supply of Comfort fabric softener in November 2013 - more than half remains...

I ordered my Harry Potter on-line with Amazon and was dissapointed it didn't arrive on the morning it was released. After waiting in all day on the Saturday for the delivery I phoned Amazon and they told me they had sent the book out but they had no control over the Royal Mails delivery policy. Now I go to my local WH Smith where I have reserved a copy for £3.00 they gave me the vouchers and a free book (Mister Monday):D0

Unless you are offered freebies, then definitely buy it instore on day of release. Then turn off all telly and radios and computers, as people who have read it overnight will be discussing it.
Last year the prices were £7.99, or 98 even. Which, price-wise is the cheapest. AND you get to buy it at the special midnight openings...
Indeed. Last time, I had the book before everyone else I knew and £1 cheaper than everyone else I knew (I think I paid £6.97) because I waited, didn't order online, and stood patiently in Tesco until midnight (they stayed open until 00.15 especially) with a handful of other geeks and 2 children.
Well worth it, but happened completely by chance!
I had ordered online, but needed to cancel my order in the end as we were driving to Poland early in the morning and the online supplier (I think I ordered through Tesco too, as they were offering a price promise) couldn't guarantee I'd get it before we left for the ferry, so I cancelled.
As we then drove to Poland, where I didn't have to worry about anyone spoiling the ending, I managed to ration the book and eke it out so that it lasted a whole 10 days! I can't imagine I'll get the same opportunity this time!:rotfl:0 -
