I know it's expensive, but I really think we need a 2 bedroom place. It's in a good location too and is better for OH to get to work. It would increase my mystery shopping area too, as it's in the middle of Southampton and Portsmouth. There are lots of 2 bedroom places around that area, all in the £700-£800 bracket.

(have been up since 3.30am, through worrying this time though, not through coughing).

Feeling a bit better about things now. I've seen some more flats which are cheaper, but just as nice. I think we have settled on moving to that area though. It just makes sense - OH wants to live in Eastleigh, I want to live in Portsmouth and Whiteley is smack bang in the middle of the 2. Going to start ringing around at 9am.

Started already on sorting some stuff out too. We've both decided that the less we have to take with us, the better. We're going to sell the sofa, as we wanted to get a 3 seater anyway, so will just slum it until we can afford one.

Well that was a no!! I'm not very partial to smashed front doors and mould on the window ledges. Plus it was on the top floor and I can't handle that many stairs.

Let's hope one of the 4 I'm seeing tomorrow will be better.

Hello don't know if you remember me. Just a quick question are you aware of how bad the traffic is to get in and out of Whiteley. I'm guessing you won't need to travel during rush hour but your OH might. Also the M27 is not great around the Hamble during rush hour.

Expensive area where we live isn't it. Good luck with the flat hunting.

Hi TallGirl - of course I remember you :).

I don't have to travel in the rush hour. OH will have to drive to Eastleigh to get the train (better service from Eastleigh and he can park his car there), but that will be at around 6.30am, so it shouldn't be too bad at that time. Also, he has said that he doesn't mind sitting in traffic on the way home (whether he sticks to that when it actually happens is another matter).

    Very expensive, I agree :(

So, we have a flat! Well, as long as we pass the checks.

I know it's expensive, but it's so beautiful and I instantly felt at home there. Plus, it's furnished, so we can just sell all the furniture we currently have and put that money towards the deposit and first month's rent. Plus, no furniture equals not having to pay for a van to move all our stuff there. We can just do it in cars.

So, we have to get cracking and sort our stuff out so that we are literally just moving what we need/want and are getting rid of all the rubbish. Hoping the weather improves real soon so I can do a few car boots.

  • That's a gorgeous flat, Emz. Makes me want to move myself now! Keeping everything crossed that you get it and the move goes smoothly:j.

I'm a bit concerned that you have posted details of the actual location/address on here though. There are some less than nice people who trawl the forums for strange purposes.

Thanks CBC :) - should have thought of that to be honest. I've taken the link off now.

Think I have a chest infection - feeling really grotty and have no energy. I'll be off to the doctor tomorrow morning. Hate going as it's a walk-in surgery and you have to wait for hours (most stupid system ever if you ask me, so glad I'm going to be changing doctors soon).

Haven't done much in the flat yet. Fixed a blind that has been broken for ages and will try and tackle a stain on the carpet tonight. Haven't got any energy for much else.

Just redeemed for a £30 Amazon voucher, which will help when it comes to buying house stuff.
