Paypal's standard line for chargebacks is that the service they provided the customer was one of money transfer, which they have successfully provided and that they have investigated and rejected a claim. They will therefore reject the chargeback from the cc company.
has this happened to you in the past or know of this happening in past?0 -
duncan-biscuits wrote: »I have had someone try and fleece me on ebay I sold one item used tracked post never received feedback and forgot about it as seen it had been signed for although I keep receipts for about 1 year anyway , to make extra sure, so one day, out the blue, 8 weeks post sale, I got an email about a buyer instigating a chargeback notice through so scanned my receipt from PO etc and sent to paypal the same day.
I fought and won , the cheeky bees at paypal did remove my funds well I had none so a big red amount and a minus sign appeared, "just until they investigated" which was about 10 days, and I could not buy anything on ebay until I made my account in credit.
It is outrageous but I rang them and spoke to someone about the chargeback and a very nice UK resident call centre staff member kept me right and they overturned the decision and I got my money returned, the buyer counter-claimed about 6 weeks later, but case notes showed Paypal were fighting on but I didnt have to take any further steps.
yeh, paypal protect buyers who sold physical items and provide proof they posted it. they pay you back and dotn make account go negative.
but this scammer lied and said it was a digital service so its like a double edged sword for them and paypal wont protect them0 -
this is all sounding complete bull crap to meWWSD(what would Scooby Doo)0

Not much of this post makes any sense and I suspect this is the biggest issue.0 -

300 mini cookers via paypal to resell, have invoice. also when i paid you can add message for seller on paypal.i added a url indicating exactly what item is
I wonder (and I'm horribly confused as I can't read 'youth speak' ) if you actually didn't buy named goods, but sent a basic payment for services and then merely added a note to say you were buying the ovens as a sort of 'private message'. In that case you would not be covered by paypal.

There are numerous posts on here about people trying and failing chargebacks against PayPal and there is a section in the article on S75 for payments through 3rd parties http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/section75-protect-your-purchases - the same arguments will likely apply to debit card chargebacks.0 -
cloud - I think people are genuinely trying to help you but you're not making it easy. I don't know if you are a foreign student, but you are mixing up the words "buyer" and "seller", not telling us the whole picture, and I can't see where you are just speculating on events and what has actually happened.Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. it was an item on amazon uk. i gave link of item i wanted in paypal message i sent to seller when paying, so they said that they can provide that item, 300 of them
So you saw an item on Amazon UK and you then asked a person in the USA to buy them for you. And you met this person on Elance which is a freelance (i.e. services) website.
How exactly did the subject of mini-cookers come up on Elance?0
