you could try taking it into an apple store?

My husband had problems with his new i phone & three (his provider) were useless at helping so he just thought he'd try with apple. They were brilliant & sorted out everything for free. You have to make an appointment to speak to someone, but their customer service was really impressive, even though he had got the phone "free" on a contract from three.

Apple are 'impressive' while the phone is under the warranty. Their goodwill mysteriously expires along with the warranty or costs you £150ish to extend for another year:

Nonetheless, I think a chat with someone in an apple store might help.

Greyed out wifi is usually a jailbreak gone wrong - trying to update with an iPad baseband, could this be the case, was the phone jailbroken and unlocked unofficially?

Nope, absolutely not a jail broken or even attempted to be jail broken. Booked in to see apple the end of the week, hope they'll be able to help, would anyone know if Apple itself could reload IOS 6.1.2 onto it and see if that fixes it? Worked absolutely fine untill the 6.1.3 update and if the update can't actually "fry" the hardware of it then in my mind (granted its not a very technical mind) putting the old software back on should fix it?

Hi I know this is an old post but I have just come accross this problem on my friends Iphone 4s same issue wifi stopped working after update. We called in Apple store today they said Oh yes it will cost you £129. My friend thought better of paying that, wisely as it turns out. When we got home I did some internet search and found several fixes on youtube. The one that worked for us was to make sure phone has at least 50% charge.
    Turn it off
    Place in a freezer bag
Place bagged phone into freezer for 15 mins ( yes we were sceptical too)
Remove from freezer and turn on.

Well it worked first time for us so I thought i'd share.

Apple are great at rolling out untested updates and hardware!!!

I wouldn't touch a Iphone with a barge pole now - and I was using them before they came really popular!!!!

Besides the Iphone 5 is just hideously ugly compared to other phones nowadays!
I was going to put the name of my plumbing business here so you know what I do should I give out any advice plumbing wise - however apparently I cant do that - go figure!!!!!
