Indeed.
Anyway. I sent my SAR letters off two weeks ago and I'm damned if this poxy judgement is going to put me off. Egg and MBNA have until 10th June to get their act together otherwise I'm going ahead with phase 2.0 -
THANK YOU FOR WISHING ME GOOD LUCK. however as you do NOT know me and i did NOT quote you personnally please do not comment on my children. you clearly have no monetay problems to which i am very pleased for you, i am just stating to such likes as yourselves that certain predicament can place you in a situation that then is difficult to climb out of and spirals and had you evr been in this situation you would understand. obviously we need a bank account to have wages paid into so that is not an option, therefore leaving the banks with the monopoly. i don't wish to get in to a slanging match with you. i am very serious about getting out of debt and i will with or with claiming my charges backs. i certainly don't want you sympathy save it as you never know whats round the corner for yourself!!!!! Also a £1000 a per may be A LOT of money but please note that we pay our own rent, council tax and domestic bill we do not live on hand outs from your taxes so i find your comments quite insulting. We don't all have the perfect life (holidays , nights out) my husband works damn hard to support us0

Okay people, I'm far too busy today answering the myriad of questions elsewhere to be reading this thread and will just have to ask the Abuse Team to look at it if this childish fighting continues, so lets be adults here and keep the thread on topic0

I think I know who wise investor is and he certainly isn't liked if it is who i think it is!
I can agree with some of the points he has made but when people are paid their salary (which is usually fixed) it does'nt always cover the rising costs of bills and over time, people are going to be unable to pay rising costs. Thus putting them into the red.
I have a very good job, but it pays not a great deal but i do it because i enjoy what i do and i get to travel (okay mainly hot sandy countries with oil!) but the rising costs of electricity, gas and water always go up, unfortunately my salary does'nt except in April when we get a paltry 3%.
By the time i pay out for food etc i am always near the red or just in it, once this starts its like rolling a tennis ball down a snowy hill!!
so like wise investor says, people should manage their bank accounts a bit better but its not always practical, and £30 for a letter to tell me i've gone overdrawn, when i know this because i have checked my online account seems very extortionate and their is no need as these cases are proving!Wins so Far: 21" lcd monitor, 6 day all expenses paid holiday to China, 8800GTX gfx card, 2x Panasonic cameras, 12 cups and Loads of Twix's, Coffee Lovers Hamper - Wild bean cafe. Edinburghlass,
I can assure you there has been absolutely no abuse on my part, although I proudly admit to being firmly against the concept of reclaiming bank charges levied due to the fault of the account holder. Mistakes by banks can and do happen and can/should be queried, but they don't amount to the thousands of pounds that people are claiming (IMO dishonestly) through the help of this site.
Only 1 person so far has admited "I was late with a payment". If I was late paying my mortgage I'd risk having my house reposessed. Breaking the rules has consequences and people NEED to understand that. Campaigning for a reduction in charges would NOT help people manage their money more responsibly and could result in our entire economy taking a serious turn for the worse.
This site should be encouraging readers to TAKE RESPONSIBILITY and TAKE ACTION. That's not abusive, it's straight-talking. Sadly, some seem incapable of telling the difference.0 -

Manage your money and the banks can't touch you. Get it wrong and expect it to cost you. It's not rocket science.
I really shouldn't rise to this, but ...
Let me use my case as an example ...
My charges were all because I paid my CC bill late. It was only by a day each time, but that doesn't make any difference. I admit it. I am a bad person.
I do not expect not to be charged for my misdeeds. My misdeeds have cost the CCC a sum of money, which should not be passed on to other customers.
However, the law as it stands does not allow the CCC to charge more than my misdeeds cost them. They do. They have wronged me much more than I have wronged them, and I have a right to justice.
The law should be changed to allow the banks to be able to charge something extra as a disincentive to late payments.
No-one would ever like paying the new charges, but at least they would be lawful. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -

I made a phone call this morning to Barclays (former Woolwich) whiched had previously offered £1024 as a gesture of goodwill for my £1876 claim of which I declined and proceeded on with money claim, on 14th acknowledge and further 14 days entered a defence. Still waiting for court date to come though. But after hearing about yesterday’s events with tsb in court, decided to take the offer (cut and run).
But after making the phone call this morning to accept the offer, was told this would now continue to go to court due to yesterdays events of the bank winning.
Thought you guys might find this interesting.
Looks like im going to have to take this all the way
Good luck all
Regards
It was interesting the first time. Why have you reposted it?0 -

I appreciate you don't own a television WiseInvestor but have you a radio and actually LISTENED to Martin Lewis on Jeremy Vine? That's what brought me here...he is extremely passionate about this topic and sometimes rather 'forceful' to people who blather on when they try to justify charges...I am interested as to why, if you disagree so vehemently with the chap who STARTED this site...you. are. here....0
