Chipbeck - remind me what Christmas has to do with "fun" exactly? Surely it's a story of great happiness despite immense suffering? Or isn't that commercialised enough for you?
I don't need to spend money I don't have in order to have fun. I wonder how many of those currently reclaiming "unfair" charges are still struggling to pay off Christmas '06?0 -
If I had a 6-figure pension, don't you think I'd be able to afford a TV?
BTW, I'm not even close to retiring0 -
Shall we all still go on with reclaiming them back? im at the second stage threatning to take them to court. is it worth it? i cant afford to lose.0

this is my first post and if the seemingl personal squables continue may well be my last.
isnt this a site to help consumers, we all have an opinion but some are best kept to ourselves, so please lets get on with the serious business and kep the !!!!!ing to ourselves.0 -
I do feel a little depressed at some people's attitudes on this thread...I haven't felt the need to explain how I got into trouble with the bank because it's nobody's business but I am beginning to resent the implication by some that I and others are some sort of blood sucking parasite scum....this has lead me to conclude that the critics on this thread must work for a bank to make me feel the same way that banks have made me feel...0

WiseInvestor probably lives at home with his Mum.
I'm claiming from Monument as I was two days late with one payment which was paid promptly with extra money but they continued to charge me £90 per month in charges... they ignored 22 letters and too many numerous phone calls which they put the phone down on me and I only asked a very polite question! They didn't send statement for over a year either. why should I pay £500 for that!?
I walk to/from work (8.5 miles) (bus - how lazy!?) and my TV was £30 refurbished as I don't watch very often and it has mostly soap rubbish anyway.
I don't have any family to help me out and have worked since I was 15 - that's 22 years full time work - I've also worked in cleaning jobs part-time since I was six which I didn't even get paid for.
You say don't have a bank account if you can't manage... no job I've had ever paid with cash or cheque so does that mean you have to sit on the dole and be a parasite instead?
Not everyone are spongers and parasites who just want to make excuses!Light bulb moment April 07: [strike]£3,655 [/strike] Oct 07: [strike]£2,220[/strike] now 0 - 3 years of Uni debt to be added at a later datenow at Uni as a Mature student -update: now has a First Class BA!0 -

Manage your money and the banks can't touch you. Get it wrong and expect it to cost you. It's not rocket science.
BTW - no employer could ever INSIST you have a bank account. There are alternatives.0 -
I was thinking about this case earlier and had a bit of an idea, now if someone who is legally knowledgable would confirm my thoughts please.
I read that in general the courts are fed up with banks dropping cases at the last minute and have threatened to start awarding damages. I have also read that lots of different folk are awaiting a judgement from the higher courts for guidance?
So..... Would it fair to say that the Last Thing the banks want is a CoA or LL's judgement and they will continue to pay up to avoid this happening.
Can I float the idea that just maybe the Judge in this case has been very very crafty and by giving the aplicant the chance to appeal to a higher court will circumvent the machinations of the banks as the appeal is nothing to do with them? I cannot see them cross appealing saying they should have lost as that will send out the same signal would it not.
N. B. These are just my thoughts and I would welcome some knowledgable replies.
TIAThe quicker you fall behind, the longer you have to catch up...0 -
Where are all the lost court cases today? The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0

£1000 per month is a lot of money! Most of the world survives on less than that. If it isn't enough for you, why have you had children?
£150 per month in charges demonstrates that your financial handling needs some serious investigation. Running a bank account is as much a skill as running a home.
If you're serious about getting yourself out of debt, the first lesson to learn is to stop blaming other people. Banks are commercial organisations - they charge for a service and it's up to you whether you use it or not. You, the consumer, are not in a position to comment or dictate on the rates they charge. However, as the consumer you CAN take your business elsewhere. If you can't manage a bank account, don't have one -that way you won't be charged a penny and can focus on getting your financial affairs back on track.
Good Luck0
