Just bought a new house - now people looking through my windows !

I bought a detached house a few months ago with garden surrounding the house. The footpath to the front door goes alongside the house. I've noticed that whenever anyone comes to the front door to ring the doorbell, they step to the side and put their head up against the hallway window and look through. If I don't answer the door straight away, they walk across to the lounge window and look through that as well.
I thought about putting up net curtains or metal blind thingies, but it doesn't work when people go so close to the window. There are static 'frost' window films and glue-on mirror films, but the house is quite cute so I don't really want the front of the house having frosted or mirror windows.
I was wondering if this is normal behaviour? I'd personally never look through windows if someone doesn't answer the door.

Is this people you know or strangers? Never had it myself, think it would annoy me too.0

Walk around the house naked, I'm sure it'll put people off (I am assuming you aren't Ryan Reynolds or something though!)0

Strange behavior!
Electric fence? Sign saying "Please do not peer intomy house"? Vicious dog?0 -

No it's not normal behaviour, it's the behaviour of nosey parkers!0 -
is there room to re-route the path a few yards from the house?
who are these visitors anyhow? people you know? sounds like they are casing the joint ...0 -
Net curtains would be the easiest solution."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

How rude. Is your's a new property?
We bought a new house in a small development and were plagued by prospective house buyers looking in our windows. We even had one ........ who knocked on the door and asked to see inside, because the show house was closed!"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Window box with a few plants in? nettles and roses spring to mind...
Seriously, it might work if you put pwetty ikkle bedding plants in...
Or stick a sign up in the room "Nosey Parker!"0 -
I get that at my house because the room we are likely to be in is right near the front door. In fact, I sometimes have people knock on the window INSTEAD of knocking on the door (or perhaps I didn't hear the door, but I doubt my dog would miss it!). Always nice to turn and see a strange face smooshed against your office window. Although we have a lovely view I now leave my curtains closed at all times on that window as it just annoyed me too much. Nowt as weird as people!0

I recently sold a double fronted house which had hall & dining room windows either side of front door. I found people always looked through hall windows after ringing bell & some people then went to dining room window to peer through that & that really did annoy me, as looking through dining room window gave a clear view into the adjoining kitchen.
Most of these nosey parkers were not even people I knew either, just nuisances trying to sell me something or to try to convert me to their religion. Their nosiness never got me to open the door though & eventually they would give up & go away. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0
