New build house and the new build crematorium

If this is early in a development I don't think they will go for a low price, they would rather pay stamp duty etc on a higher price as once your price is on the Land Registry it sets a president.0

The thing is your not that bothered about this house so offer away.
You say you would pay £250k then offer £250k they pay stamp and fitted wardrobe as brochure.0 -
I agree. I am bothered but not desperate. Its an ideal property in terms of house layout but there's other factors which make it not idea. for the price i dont think we could ever find our ideal home... but we will try to get as near as possible.
It all comes down to price really. If i was paying top money for this house and its not near to perfect then I'd be unhappy. If i got a decent bargain then some of the imperfections of what we want can be forgiven.0 -
Sorry, Why would a north facing garden be relevant to your decision?0

It doesn't get the afternoon sun as it is in the shade of the house. People who use the garden a lot in the summer want a south facing garden, as do keen gardeners, as more things will grow. Lots of people will not even go and look at a house if it has a north facing garden!0 -
Hello, I'm local (Glen Parva now, grew up in Broughton Astley, went to Countesthorpe College). I was looking at that development as I liked the location. The Crem in itself wouldn't put me off, but the extra traffic and the possibility of cars parking outside, clogging up the roads etc would. It may have a negative impact on the price or saleability when you want to move as they do seem to creep some people out.I'm never offended by debate & opinions. As a wise man called Voltaire once said, "I disagree with what you say, but will defend until death your right to say it."
Mortgage is my only debt - Original mortgage - January 2008 = £88,400, March 2014 = £47,000 Chipping away slowly! Now saving to move.0 -

Thanks for the insight. I honestly hadn't even thought of that. I'm not a keen gardener but do enjoy a good BBQ in the summer.
With the sun rising in the east and setting in the west, how does the garden not get sun very well though? I think i'd need to see how this affects the property specifically however getting a day with sun at the moment is very difficult!0 -
I don't know if it's something that would concern you but I lived near a crematorium back in the early 90's ( so thing's may be different now) but our windows would get covered with a fatty sticky brown substance never seen anything like it before or since.Booo!!!0

Because the earth is tilted on it's axis, in the northern hemisphere the sun doesn't move directly overhead, it is always slightly to the south.0 -
Funeral cortège traffic m o v e s - v e r y - v e r y - s l o w l y - i n d e e d. Snails overtake, laughing.
I mean, seriously slowly, and it can be a darn inconvenience. I've been through three family funerals in the last four years and, when I had a say in the arrangements, I asked the funeral director for the convoy not to move at snail's pace the whole way, as mum would have truly hated to be a nuisance at that stage. It went faster than some, but still soooo slooooow! It seems that it's a vital part of gaining respect for the deceased, that total strangers should be late and irritable wherever they are going.
There are commonly huge traffic jams building up around our local crematorium (which some sensitive soul placed next to the municipal tip :eek:) and, frankly, I would get peeved by the continual gum-up of the traffic.
So, it may not just be the additional traffic that caused a problem, but the inconvenience of it. Sounds harsh, but I would consider that a negative. {And I must put a codicil in my will; I want my funeral driver to get a ticket on my last trundle}
Edit:
LittleMax: did you draw that? Brilliant!Stick a house in with shadow, go on...
