Hi everyone. Just about to update my signature for this week.
I feel like i am definitely on track with my grocery spends now (famous last words!!), and the main things that have helped are cutting out the amount of wine and junk food that i eat/drink :o

    Hi everyone,

£3.50 on the market - cherries and grapes
£5.99 in Sains - bread, veg
£8 in £land on packed lunch bits

Forgot to get milk and ham doh! Will pop to C**p later after the school fete.

Only have £24 odd now until Friday next week, half of which will be needed to pay back 2nd purse for items earmarked for use next week.

    Meal plan:
Sunday - roast gammon, roasties, asparagus, broccoli
Monday - macaroni cheese, sugar snap peas
    Tuesday - pizza
Wednesday - cottage pie, veg (tbc)
Thursday - DR pork sausages/Quorn sausages, mash, veg (tbc)
Friday - Meatballs and spaghetti (new spicy lamb ones YS ;))

I need to get red Leicester cheese, lardons and macaroni for Monday, RM pizzas for Tuesday (as I'm working all day and DS1 has rugby in the evening which gives us 15mins to cook and eat something!), and some more veg.

Very tight but I'm up for the challenge :rotfl:

Last few bits got until Tuesday payday - yesterday picked up some tampons (£1) and milk (£1.49) and today got four bananas (48p), conditioner (£1) and a bulb of garlic (30p).

Total for the month - £184.29 - so I have a grand total of 71p left :rotfl:

£9.41spend in HB and FF on various bits and Quorn products. Probably would have spent less without DD. Did also have a McD, but as this rare i am not going to count that. Will adjust signature later, if i can't on my phone.

  • Hello everyone. Have been awol most of this month and it has been a pretty disastrous one! Completely lost the plot... I blame my birthday in the middle of the month, OH staying and lots of eating out and too much to drink! Hmmme. Feeling quite panicky at the moment because at the end of the month I have OH's birthday followed by car tax, service and MOT, followed by DS's birthday and then a holiday to pay for.

Have spent today catching up on this thread and reading A Girl Called Jack blog - v inspiring. Made tomato soup for lunch, 2 portions for freezer, and now about to make bolognaise and pizzas!

getting-sorted-sarah - try not to panic instead draw a line under it and start again. Use up as much as you can from stocks to help. Good luck.
I really need to take my own advice on this point as have loads in cupboards etc.

Fruit & veg today in Morri$ons came to £12.73 brought broccoli, cauli, peaches, bananas, grapes, yogurts (still on offer 6 Mul!er for £1.94) and a paper. So it will be a NSD tomorrow.
I have a tub of cottage cheese a few days past its date but will open it tomorrow and see if it has gone off or not, if not will probably make a quiche with it.
    MARCH £62.38/250

  • Thanks Billie-jo, that is the plan! I need to spend less than nothing next month! July starts on Tuesday. I have been sent vouchers from Mr W that amount to £70 off across 4 x £75 shops in next couple of months, trying to work out how to make this work for me as W are more expensive on most things, but stocking up on their essentials ranges may be cost effective.

Found my Italian housemate putting half a loaf of bread in the bin earlier because it passed it's Best Before date yesterday! I quickly gave him a lesson in food labeling, and spread the MSE love!

I need to plan out some cheap but healthy meals for a few weeks, as my clothes are all starting to feel a little tight. I'm having one of those phases where I've completely forgotten what there is to cook except bolognese, chilli, curry (using Pataks pastes) and pasta with pesto.

I think I might wind up doing the dangerous thing and go to the supermarket without a list to remind myself what's out there!
