Need to get a grip on this grocery challenge, I am going to put a few measures into practice this month.

1 - Not to take my purse to work (I work at Mr S) and its a nightmare when the reductions are getting done...

2 - To use what's in the freezer and cupboards before I do a big shop

My budget for June is £70 per week this is for 3 Adults and 3 cats

    Good Luck all
    Sell £750.00

  • I'd like to join you lovely people too!
I'm going to set my budget at £240 for June, I always budget for this amount but end up going waaaaay over and sticking my head in the sand!
This wlll be for food, cleaning bits, toiletries etc for myself, hubby and my two boys aged 5 and 3 (who eat a ridiculous amount!)
ALong with the added complication of me being veggie and on slimming world and hubby turning his nose up at any meal NOT containing meat. Very lucky with my boys not being fussy eaters, they eat most things I put on front of them!
So far I've spent £43.66 in a*da on a top up of cupboard and fresh items
£27.52 in morries on last minute BBQ bits (damn the in laws inviting themselves over!!)
£13.50 on coffees/ drinks/ ice creams at the beach on Sunday ( I'm also including any takeaways, meals out etc)
Yikes that's me up to £84.68 already :s
    Onwards and upwards!

Mr F went shopping today - not sure what he spent yet.
I went shopping for fabric to sew a kitchen blind so not out of GC budget.
    Still without a kitchen.

Hang on! Have I just solved where my money goes!!! HELP!

Much sympathy from me on this one. It is difficult - in our house it was only really when things really got challenging that the none essential spends stop. Everything in the basket (never a trolley) I have to ask myself do we absolutely burningly need this? Would the boys starve if i didn't buy it? Could I use something else? Write everything you buy down. Break it down into how much you have to spend each waking hour - my mum taught me that one, how many hours do I have to work after tax to pay for this and do I want it that much? How could the money be better spent? Buy the things that matter first, buy the treats at the end of the month and stop borrowing from yourself. HTH

Week one's shop done, and got in all the dry and bulky bits for this month as well as the cleaning stuff. Came to £57.02, but next week shouldn't be half as much (famous last words)!!!

    Off to update siggy ;)

    No spends today :)

Had a lovely dinner - sliced steak and ratatouille, with mustard potatoes, inspired by (but not exactly the same as) a Jamie 15 minute meal. Not that frugal but then only uses 1 steak between 2 so better than we'd usually do lol :D

Going to aim for £130 again this month.

Have already spent £38.34 this month because I had a Mr S delivery come through to take advantage of a discount delivery code, and most of the food will be used this month anyway.

Will start looking at new recipes to get a bit more variation...things are getting a bit repetitive at the moment.
