Haha it amazes me how many 1 post newbies pop up unchallenged on MSE, offering no advice and 1 rubbish pseudo link, and no-one bothers to challenge them and the mods don't touch them either.0

Thanks greenface,
It does seem there are a few too many 'forum' pretend Police Officers who struggle to see the value in others posts (as they skim the whole thread) and brand it with 'spam' without reading the whole context and asking 'did this offer genuine and honest advice - for free??'
Much better than squabbling over 'who thinks I'm abusing the forums rules and regs as it seems to give them a purpose?
Rather boring and non productive - and not why this forum was set up? I see quotes about 'spirit and intentions' followed by 'you are promoting your business.... how do I give credibility to a security question/post without explaining my history and experience?
Simple fact is the 'pretend police' who think they own this forum seem to add little true value to it's readers, or they can post misleading and incorrect data but because they are '1000+ posters they must be Gods and the font of all knowledge lol.
So maybe the forum police should take a step back and look at the core values of what this collective is actually about.....
I'm happy to help people when I have time - for free, yes I run a business, but maybe that helps the reader judge who's advice is dependable and authorised? We've been doing this for 35 years - much longer than this forum has existed!
The AA, Met Police, Master Locksmiths Assn, Yale, Union, Avocet, VBH, Mul-T-Lock, Assa Abloy etc do not easily authorise and endorse companies or individuals - but my business is endorsed by them.
On top of that I don't hide behind some cloak and dagger name - I'm very easy to find and contact - because I'm really here and accountable (not some dead guy who said something profound - I'm alive and give refunds if a mistake is made - real world, real time and real consumers money)..... those that hide behind nick names should not be allowed to police anything in my humble opinion.
rant over....:AIf you stay loyal all the time, you get treated like a dog.0 -

Exactly what value did your post add to the world? I think zero?
Newbies? Only newbies post items of zero value - just for the post count, and some kind of self reassurance that they are in charge of something after the day shift....
I suggest you read my post above - unless you are qualified and authorised to offer advice on security (and be held accountable)
Or does 'buglawton' have a real name, real credentials or even anything to offer the readers in this thread?
Once again the true value and content is missing - it's all about your online ego.... Well my very REAL website gets 12,000 visitors a month, for a very REAL bricks and mortar 35 year old company.. how many does your get 'buglawton'? That's without any spam from MSE.... (if you know anything about SEO you would understand this site is not worth the effort for pure SEO value)If you stay loyal all the time, you get treated like a dog.0 -
I was commenting on Leveller's post. Leveller seemed to think that an earlier Matthew post should not have stayed up.
So was observing that many far less informative posts appear from these 1 post newbies everywhere on MSE, and they very frequently go totally unchallenged.
And I was observing how this thread in particular seems to have caused Leveller to take a huge interest in posts what while arguable self promotional, were at least informative.
Makes me wonder sometimes if we are getting rival traders posting in the thread here.0 -

So why quote a spam post, thus defeating the object of the original being deleted? And why not go back and edit your post to remove the quote?I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -

So how about you read my posts - and determine how I can give genuine advice on a serious subject that is full of !!!!!!!! advice from other members without explaining who I/we are without 'spamming and breaking the laws of revealing your true self???
Just because 'Bob the poster' has 5 stars only means he has sold more fries and burgers than the other poster... it does not give authority or credibility on my world of lock and key security.
What credentials we have and why we should maybe considered as someone who actually knows what they are talking about are made by real world, commercial endorsements. The AA, Met Police, Thames Valley Police, Master Locksmiths Assn, Yale, Union, Mul-T-lock etc etc etc - the security industry does not easily flock/endorse/approve or change to someone who they don't trust.
I'm happy to be accountable and visible - I have no Mary Poppins name - I am as seen. Unlike 100% of all those that offer differing opinions or accuse me of spam..
It makes me laugh that Martin's site is now nothing more than a mortgage reselling machine. (I'm Martin the HONEST deal finder...)
The spirit is being ripped out of it - and taken over by pretend spam police who have no training on good or bad content, if you want 'the collective' and the 'experienced' to join a forum - then expect them to explain how and why they have experience. Its not spam - it's called proof - walking the walk and doing it every day with real people in the real world for real money.
I post here approx once a week - why is that? Am I bored or too busy?If you stay loyal all the time, you get treated like a dog.0
