Locked windows, lost keys

I need some help, please. We cannot find any of the keys for our downstairs windows (double glazed) and some of them are locked, including 2 of them locked 'open'. The company that installed them are no longer trading.
Any suggestions on freeing the locks without the keys?

  • I believe that double glazing units normally have quite standard keys. Try some hardware shops.

they were put in about 15 years ago by A.C Yule and are casement style windows. The keyhole is on the button that you push to lock the window.

Plenty of hits for window lock keys

    This is one of 'em:

The most common window keys used in the UK are listed below. If you cannot identify the key you require then send us a sample (email a good photo of the existing key or lock or send a key in the post to us). Most window keys are available within a week of ordering.

If you can take the handle off one of the windows that are 'locked open' and take to a decent locksmith he may be able to make you a key.

You can try picking the lock if unlocking it is the aim. They aren't very good for security anyway. All someone has to do is put some force into opening the handle and the lock will break.

    Our window locks look similar.

If you live near Fishbourne, Chichester, West Sussex, you are welcome to drop by and borrow a key.

Or post your location and see if anyone who lives locally to you and has similar window locks will lend you a key.

Whilst having some work done on my new flat recently, I found that the builders had opened my kitchen window without use of a key, simply by using a screwdriver in the keyhole on the button & turning. My window locks look pretty similar to yours so worth a try.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

Very kind of you to offer - I`m in East Sussex . I`ll bet we`re the only 2 people on the forums that are in Sussex;)
I thought about offering my plumbing services - tend to get bored in retirement .
