best present some seeds which now have grown to over 5ft in the garden and are beautiful flowered bush so alive and smell divine, makes me smile everytime:D
best present given-money when the person was so down on their luck, the little I gave saved them from such a terrible situation, because of it they are now back on their feet, appreciate what they have, have learnt loads, would never get back into such trouble and they are just happy and content, it really was one of the best things I have done.0 -
The most well received gift I have ever given was for dh's birthday many years ago. We were not married then and I was not well at all and very, very short on disposable income.
I was really anxious what I could buy or him that would be a treat for the small amount of money I had. It took me hours and hours to even get out of the flat I was so ill, ( but tha was nothing to getting back up the stairs when home, i remember sitting on the stairs a lot in those days). and communicating was not easy for me then, and going out was full of stress. But I managed, got out and found a seafood platter for almost exactly the amount I had left in my bank account. He loves fresh sea food.
He was working that night and returned home tired and hungry in the early hours of the morning to a plate full of some of his favourite things. He couldn't believe I had managed to get out even. I loved seeing him so happy.0 -
The best gift I ever recieved was on my 21st birthday. A voucher to have an hour on a flight simulator. It was a really wonderful experience. I got to choose which airport I left from and arrive at. So being a daredevil I chose to leave Heathrow and fly into Hong Kong. Well if you are going to try these things you have to push the boundaries and really go for it hey. It was brilliant and still makes me smile when I think back to it.The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.0

I've always been very keen on Diy and have been given lots of tools, i think maybe an electric welder was the best.
As for the best given, well the most expensive was i paid over half the cost of a house when my Niece got married. ......... looking back that was a big mistake.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

Aww that made me smile because I've just used groupon to buy a flight simulator experience for son, husband and father-in law to go to together. I don't think son gets it yet but I know he'll love it.0 -
I gave two best presents -
One to my ex for his 30th, when I took him to Nepal (we lived in the UK) where he had always wanted to go back to. I gave him a guidebook at his birthday dinner, and he was ecstatic. We split on good terms a few months later (after six years together) but it left us with some glorious memories from a really beautiful place. It was my gift to both of us after two years of scrimping to pay off debt.
The other one was to my current OH for his 30th. I took him away to Zanzibar for a long weekend (we live in Uganda so not as crazy as it sounds!). I surprised him with an air ticket on his pillow on the day of departure. He'd had an awful year (dad's and grandfather's sudden death, very dramatic split from his ex, family collapse, job insecurity etc) and we really had an amazing time and it kept his spirits up for ages.
Best gift gotten - my mum used her air miles for flights to Greece when I graduated from university. Didn't cost her anything but I never could have afforded it at the time, and I had a brilliant trip.

The best gift I've ever given was to my sister on her 30th birthday. I had gathered photos from her as a baby right up to her 30th and put them all in an album0

The best gift I have ever given was to my husbands nan, she lives in australia so couldnt attend our wedding, we put disposable cameras on all the tables and had all the guests take snaps which I turned into a wedding momento book that we took with us to give to her on our honeymoon 3 days later. We also got the photographer to take a picture of all 4 of her daughters together in their finery (she hadnt had one taken for about 20 years!) this was extra special as one of the sisters passed away suddenly a few years later and this turned out to be the last picture of the 4 of them
Best gift ever received was a hand written letter from my 5 year old last week saying 'hapy eastr mummy love you' and her nameIt may be spelt wrong but all the love in the world was in it

The best presents I've ever received:
From my friend - I was too ill to go to a convention where my favourite actor was, so my friend got me a signed photo, personalised to me, from my favourite film and framed it for my birthday. I squeaked.
From my OH - I mentioned in passing that I'd always wanted a specific cuddly toy from a film, but never been able to find it, and he hunted it down for our first Valentine's Day together.
From my ex (helped by his friend) - a poem from ex, and from the pair of them a box made to look like a book, to hold notepads and pens and dice and all sort of things you use when tabletop roleplaying
The best I've ever given:
To my mum and my nan: I dug through our old family photos and made collages for each of them, including photos of dad and grandad who have sadly passed away. Nan was buried with her collage last year, and Mum still has hers on the wall near her favourite chair.
To my OH: a small bronze ingot on a wristband, with "Wherever you are, you will always be in my heart" engraved on it. I took a chance, as he doesn't wear jewellery, but it's never left his wrist since I gave him it
