I think probably the best gift I've given I didnt actually give per se but I had a hand in it :D

I've mentioned before that my mate really likes this Kiwi guy and bless him he always looks sad. So when I went to London to meet up with my other mate I discovered that the New Zealand shop was right opposite the Nando's where I was meeting her. So I spoke to my other mate and between us we drew up a list of stuff we would buy. I bought all the stuff, brought it back home, and spent about another tenner on a silver box, black tissue paper (cos he was an All Black ;)) cellophane and real green and white ribbon (that's the colours of his current team) I got him beer, chocolate, sweets, biscuits and a can of Watty's Beans :D then spent ages parcelling it up. He was absolutely thrilled by it and was really touched by all the trouble we'd gone to - I told my mate to take the credit as she had put quite a lot of work into researching the stuff and paying for it but she let me take the credit in the end :D His reaction was worth it in the end! :D

My best gift that i received was a few years ago from my lovely son. My mum had taken him out for the day and he had asked who buys mummys and daddies presents. So she replied that he could buy mummy something, and took him into Thorntons and bought some chocolate. Its now three years later and i cant bring myself to throw it away, and nearly brained my husband when he tried to open it and eat the chocolate.
The best gift I have given, was to my aunt who has recently split with my uncle. She had moved out of the family home and was starting again, and I sent a picture that had been made into a canvas of my two children pulling cheeky faces. Since she is 8 hours away, she doesnt see them as much as I would like, and the phonecall after to say she had received the canvas was brilliant :)

I'd have eaten the chocolate and kept the wrapper. *chuckles*

Lovely idea though, love the canvas too :)

I bought my mum a Kenwood Chef for her 50th and she still uses it all the time! To be honest after seeing it in action is a really useful bit of kit so I might treat our household to one too!

best gift I ever recieved... my Fiat Brava for my 21st Birthday. It wasnt so much the car (although it was a massive upgrade from my Metro!) but it was the fact that my dad and brother had spent 2 weeks constantly working on it as they couldnt afford one in a great condition so they bought one with asthetic problems (ex smoker dog owner with chewed plastics etc) and did a brilliant job bringing it back to a perfect condition. The thought of them finishing work at 5 and then working until 10 every night made that car such a special thing to me.

On the day my son was born , It was arranged for me to go home from the hospital, but because of complications, at 6pm, they said I had to stay in overnight.

My DH went home to see our daughter, and the girl in the next bed was asking me if I would have any visitors?

No I said Im not supposed to be staying, So whos that waving that massive bunch of flowers she said?

It was my Mum, who had jumped in the car when DS had been born that afternoon, and had driven all the way to Scotland with the flowers for me. She stayed a couple of hours then left to drive home as she was working in the morning.
