My hubby is 50 tmara and I am taking him to a part of Ireland neither of us have been to before for 4 days (despite both of us living here all our days!)
We are taking him to Salou for a week, staying all inc.in Portaventura. It will prob.be our last family holiday as DD is talking about not coming with us after this year
For Christmas I am giving him an apple, a jar of maple syrup and a rain coat,.. But they are just clues to what his present is... A trip to NYC and Toronto, with a day trip to Niagra Falls, so I think that's got to be the best present I have ever given!0 -
Best gift I've been given was an animal adopted for me and then a trip to go visit said animal
I had such a lovely time.
Beat gift I've ever given (even though it's not allowed) would be our son. Best day of both I and my partners life when he was born

The best gift I ever gave was to my son on his 6th Birthday. I had had well over a year of him listening to Will Young on a daily basis. He knew which cd a song was on and which number it was on the cd after the first beat was played. He knew all the words and every day to and from school I would hear "Mum can we have Will Young?"
When I found out Will Young was on tour that year I looked up the dates and saw that he was playing reasonable travelling distance from us the day after my sons birthday so I got tickets! On his birthday I had put them in an envelope and told him to open it carefully.
He could read already and the look on his face as he read the words Will Young and asked "Are we going to see him? Really? In real life?" Was only bettered by the look on his face when he saw Will Young walk onto the stage the next dayMBNA [STRIKE]£2,029[/STRIKE] £1,145 Virgin [STRIKE]£8,712[/STRIKE] £7,957 Sainsbury [STRIKE]£6,870[/STRIKE] £5,575 M&S [STRIKE]£10,016[/STRIKE] £9,690 Barclaycard [STRIKE]£11,951[/STRIKE] £11,628 CTC [STRIKE]£7,629[/STRIKE] £6,789 Mortgage £[STRIKE]182,828[/STRIKE] £171,670

The best gift I ever recieved - many years ago, when my daughter was at nursery, there was a parents day, and one of the displays was a board, entitled "I love my Mummy because", attached underneath were lots of love hearts, with typed reasons inside from the kids - she takes me to the park, she buys me sweeties, she reads me stories, she buys me comics, etc. None of the hearts had visible names on, but the teachers explained they'd asked every kid and typed up their answers.
About 2 weeks later, it was Mothers Day, and my daughter brought home an envelope from nursery, which said not to open until Mothers Day. I opened my envelope on the day itself, to discover a homemade card, a picture, and her heart, which said "because she cuddles me". It was the nicest thing I'd ever been given, and it is still stuck to the mirror in my bedroom, and makes me smile whenever I see it.
Best gift I've ever given - for my Mums 50th, I got hold of all of the pictures she had, of us as kids, her gran and mum, etc, and scanned them all into the computer. I then bought a digital photo frame and memory card, and popped a selection onto it. We went out for lunch, and she sat at the table with the picture frame plugged in, crying with happiness.0 -
My partner recently bought me a massive canvas of me and my mum(sadly passed away) that he got printed from a photo on his computer. Theres loads of these canvas printers online or on the highstreet. Just need to find the right picture thats all0

This thread has made me a bit teary...
I have to say some of best gifts I have been given are...
A birthday card my dad bought me from him and mum for my 40th - the words in it were so special..
The last card ever from my darling mummy, she was in hospice and wrote us all cards to be given to us on the day of her funeral, she had started to write it and dad finished it.... Its so special and is kept by my bed..
I have also some hand made cards my darling monsters made me...
now to stop being silly and teary... the daftest best pressie were 6 in lamb ewes my ex hubby gave me for my birthday one year!!! I do have to say that I very much enjoyed the lambs
as to gifts i have given - i would like to say my friendship.."Aunty C McB-Wik"
"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO, What a Ride!"

I'd searched high and low for a candle holder in a particular style and by chance I found one last year - only to be told it was stupid money for a candle holder.
Anyway I mentioned to my mum that I was going to save and buy it once I'd paid off a small debt but for my birthday recently she bought it for me .....although it was massively reduced.
As for the best present given, it has to be a ornament that I scoured shops and the internet that I knew my mum had wanted for ages.2014 Target;

After buying my first home, my friend gave me a housewarming present. Her husband for the day. He shaved off the bottoms off doors, fixed handles, got the boiler working, put up curtain rails and worked like a trouper. Best present I ever had.0

Best present ever given - bought a slide converter and spent hours converting slides to electronic format. Then, printed them out and placed them into photo books, along with electronic copies on a flash drive, so that now everyone had both printed and electronic copies.
As the slides had been with one person post-divorce, plus the fact that no one has brough out the projector in many years meant that many of the photos had not been seen in 20+ years.0 -
I like to think I've given lots of really good presents over the years, I've certainly had lots of appreciation for the gifts I've given and none of my friends or relatives are RADA graduates! I try to spend time and thought rather than money - the HM pink bags filled with craft stuff went down well with the nieces and the HM felted jewellery with a particular, often worn, jumper in mind was also a recent success.
I have also received many wonderful gifts over the years - I have to say I am particularly looking forward to DH and I eating at l'enclume thanks to MIL and last Christmas my lovely parents got us a dishwasher which I didn't realise I had been quite so publicly enamoured of until DD kissed it and announced "Mummy like"!!!0
