The BBC is one of the most biased Right Wing Media Organisations there is and I am glad to hear, for once that there were 'wall to wall'claimants who can fully justify why the reforms are evil.

According to a benefits calculator I would be able to get the equivalent of £32,000 if I signed on in the UK where I was living before I left. That's the reality of the welfare state in the UK.
If you have kids, working is a mugs game for many in the UK right now. That has to change otherwise as people realize and quit working there'll be not enough people left paying tax to pay for your beloved welfare system.
I had a look at that, I put in that we had no income coming in, as I have only one kid and doubtless don't live in as salubrious area as what you are used to, it came to 19 grand. But almost half that was housing benefit, straight in a landlord's handy pocket.
I suppose thats still £10K take home for two people to sit around doing not that much, doing a bit of cash in hand, bit of this, bit of that, maybe the odd trip to France for some grey market cigarettes.
No maintenance to pay on the house either. Hmm.
Well, I still completely disagree with saying that people with no arms have to work, and if you don't have kids then the bundle is very small, an under 35 gets a few grand to live on and a stipend for a shared house. Not exactly living the dream.0

Even allowing that some of the class warriors on here are the most moronic on the planet, it's still simply astounding there are some stupid enough to think increasing the NMW is an answer to anything.
 Quite astounding.0

I would rather see workers with living wages and salaries then have big business be subsidised yet again under corporate socialist welfare regimes, but we won't complain about that will we?
these free market !!!!!!s won't obey the dictates of their own philosophy but are perfectly happy to market discipline the bovine masses. Hypocrites.#TY[/B] Would be Qaulity MSE Challenge Queen.

Arguably it isn't a viable business if it needs to employ people but can't afford to pay them a proper rate of pay."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

Precisely. And as the NMW goes up, so the chance of the business remaining viable goes down - particularly the new start-ups which the economy so badly needs.0

I agree with you and know from personal experience of running a small business.
That said , what is the answer?, do we continue to subsides sections of society, because in all honesty many cannot survive without benefits such as tax credits even though they may work 50hrs+ a week on NMW.The answer would to bring down the cost of living but that won't happen.Until the Government let the housing market fall back to an affordable level rents etc will remain the biggest burden on a large section of society.
There are no easy answers to this one and I definately don't see the millions of jobs we need being created except NMW jobs and as I said people will still need tax credits etc.
The likes of Tescos love Society subsiding their business.0

A bit like France then, generous benefits, high minimum wage and a permanently unemployed underclass of about 10%, 3% more than here who are kept hidden in the dodgy suburbs?I think....0
