If a car fails an MOT it is not in a roadworthy condition until the faults are fixed.

So a car with a frayed passenger seat belt is unroadworthy is it?

minor thing , your insurance is invalidated as not legally on the road.

My Mot ran out due to waiting to get it into garage for repairs to pass - meant could not drive it for 3 days as no mot so same thing my insurance would be classed as void so was not worth the risk imho,
I am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.

Please dont go around spouting this myth, lack of mot does not invalidate the insurance.

You were correct not to drive it without a mot but you still had insurance.

there are way too many silly rules that invlidate insurance, there was a guy who was involved in an accident and had a tinted rear window and the insurance invalidated. The third party had 3 wiplash claims and the insurance company paid out and then took the driver to court and sued for the claim.

It's a nightemare. Thankfully lack of MOT/road taxc is not grounds to invalidate insurance but imagine if it did.

sounds like an undeclared modification so the insurer can decline payout to policy holder but NOT to third parties injured
