What to do when presented with outrageously bad customer service?

We could.
1) vote with our feet.
2) Pass on our concerns without naming names
3) try and be a bit more understanding.
4) laugh
My reason for this is I work customer facing and some days and with some customer I truly want to cry. Some people are so very demanding and sometime that person has just walk out and you just happen to walk in. I am not making an excuse for bad service just think some times believe me I do each time I go into a shop etc. SMILE WE ARE ONLY HERE ONCE. YOU DO NOT ALWAYS HAVE TO COMPLAIN. IT IS NOT YOUR GOD GIVEN RIGHT TO MAKE SOMEONE LIFE MORE LOUSY THAN IT ALREADY IS.
You are joking, right?0 -
You are joking, right?
I hope so but I fear they aren't.
When you deal with customers you have to learn to suck it up. Yes this can be hard if the last person just called you a "f**king c**t" - this happened to me once over the slightest thing, obviously it wasn't that customer's day. But I didn't take it out on the next customer.
Don't get me wrong we all have moments when customers test our patience and I'm sure we have all had the odd moment when we have let this effect us. After all we are all human and I don't think it is possible to be on form 100% of the time.
But if your dealing with customers you really need to develop a thick skin.0 -

My local GAME shop (used to be Gamestation) are really nice, admittedly I don't shop in there very often because I think they are overpriced, but I find the staff are very helpful. Recently I traded some PSP games in a brand new game for a gift they were really helpful. In fact they checked all the games and there was only one they wouldn't trade in as the UMD case was split which I hadn't noticed, they said they couldn't guarantee the game so they couldn't accept it.
The only other gripe I have with them, apart from being overpriced, is the assistants do ramble on and hence you end up waiting a while at the counter. I got asked if I wanted a reward card (no because I rarely shop there and it would be no good if they go into administration again), also I got asked if I wanted to protect my new disc against damage/scratches for an extra £1.00 (what's that all about then?).
This is what frustrated me the most, the attitude of the sales assistant. After all I got my money back, but I didn't expect the attitude for returning faulty products.0 -
I've had games not work when they've had the tiniest of scratches on, or they worked initially and then I got to a place in the game and would get disc read errors galore, so cracked or majorly scratched, no chance. You expect wear and tear but not full on damage.
I would've been annoyed too. I haven't been in Sheffield GAME since it reopened, but beforehand the staff were more than pleasant and I always had a good discussion with them and always willing to help. Sounds like they might have some new not so good staff. Preowned doesn't mean damaged!0 -
The sale of goods act requires products to be of satisfactory quality - merchantable quality was the old term. I work in a game shop (not GAME) andcan tell you cracked discs should not be traded in and op should have been offered a different disc or a refund no problem, for the scratched disc a replacement should have been offered or they should have offered to clean the disc in the resurfacer machine.0
