Just came back from Mr T and the book tokens scanned lovelly so £7.00 of my shopping bill.0

Sorry
Can I just ask, if I print out the book coupon and use it at Tesco, even if I don't buy the book in question, it will still scan?
Is is better to go to self scanning tills for this?
Thanks0 -
V embarassing in ~Tesco today. (At self scan) DM voucher scanned but then I foolishly tried one of those Sun vouchers from last week (£2.30). The screen said authorisation needed and when SA came and she scanned screen 'limit exceeded' came up. I said 'Oh have I gone over the limit? Sorry. Just void them if you like.' She said 'No, I'll take them out and go and show the manager - see what he says!' She came back and said I had to buy the book and the sticker book (Sun) to use these vouchers. I had a 30p voucher in my hand as well so when she voided the others I just said 'Can I scan this one?' 'No probs' she said. So 30p off a £14 pound shop - Boo Hoo! Don't know whether to try any tomorrow on my big shop at a different store where there is no self scan - very hit and miss with the SAs usually. Doubt if I'll have the guts to try a DM one though.
Still at least I got the Cubcard points - don't usually scan the cc when I use these big value vouchers in case of being traced... big brother and all that.Weight loss - here we go again - watch this space!

OK it's definitely a pot and kettle scenario as I use as many vouchers as I can but for what it's worth I agree fully with the above. I think they have nearly outstayed their welcome already but if they get hit by internet copies as well then the end is nigh. For what it's worth I'm happy to fork out 45p in order to get the proper voucher as they are without doubt the best vouchers around at the moment. We've probably all done it in the past be it internet, somerfields or whatever, I have but I saw the light (and more importantly the effect this may have on Mr T's voucher policy) so I don't take the pi55 anymore. Hope you don't think I'm preaching because I don't mean to, just think we should be happy that they take the paper ones.
My understanding is that Tesco don't get reimbursed for these vouchers so it doesn't matter whether you use internet or original vouchers from the paper. They're out of pocket whatever. Participating outlets are shown at https://www.nationalbooktokens.co.uk and certainly in my town there's no supermarkets participating.
Each to their own but I don't use them as it's no different to using Somerfield/Asda coupons or any other coupons such as the Boots £3 Olay one. Why do people think Tesco get their money back on these Daily Mail coupons as they are not a participating member?0 -

So how come the till accepts them then? Even on a manned till as opposed to a SS one....

:hello: **Patty**
Come to join you, I too was under the impression Tesco's got their money back on these, but as above link Tesco's aren't participating.
Really dosen't matter then if the coupons are original or internet. Tesco's lose. I still think for the amount of customers that do not use coupons, pay full whack for overpriced goods in the first place, we're really in a minority that do use & maybe abuse (take advantage to the fullest whilst we can)
That's my pennies worth for tonight.
Was nice on the sofa last night Patty glad loads joined us in the end . :beer:0 -
even though tesco may or may not get rembursed for these vouchers imho that they allow it because if people are going to do their shopping somewhere and one of the poss shops will accept coupons they will go there for it.if most(us lot are exceptions) only use one or 2 vouchers and choose to do their shopping in tesco rather than asda etc(if you have a choice) they are still gaining even though they might lose cost of a couple of vouchers.they have gained the custom/money from another storeLead us not into temptation...
just tell us where it is and we'll find it....0 -
i have got these to scan at last!!! wayhoooo0

I've managed to get 3 of these Internet coupons through at the tills in Tesco, although they needed keying in rather than scanning. A £10.50 saving in 2 days is pretty good in my book.So your answer don’t be scared of failure
For the only failure is never to try
