I would think very carefully about moving abroad .The way of life may seem lovely but many have moved abroad and regretted it.
The world is not a safe place at the moment. Perhaps things will soon improve in the UK.

My immediate instinct is very harsh - some of my friends are out of work and would love a full-time job with a steady income - try and be a little bit grateful that you at least have work. We all hate our jobs and feel exhausted sometimes.

    Okay, rant over.

First off, see your doc. If you're this tired, there's something wrong.

Secondly, do you take any exercise? I tend to find with most people the more you laze around the more you want to laze around. Also what's your diet like? If it's super carb-heavy you won't be feeling your best either.

Thirdly - and very importantly - leave your work at work. Try not to do unpaid extra hours, take all your breaks as entitled, and make sure you eat lunch!

Take up a hobby so you have something to think about other than work. You sound very obsessive about it - is this true?

    Good luck!

it's probably been written to death above, haven't had time to read all posts... however, if it is Oz you're thinking of, think again! so many folk I know, on a particular forum, will tell you they work harder and longer... worse work/life balance! I'm sure it's achievable.. just dependent on your circumtances.

One thing I would say, in general, is that some people seem to think their lives will be magically transformed by moving to another country... they'll be magically uber attractive, make more friends and be the life of the party... er, if you're not already that, moving country won't make you it!

I think we may fit your description, underthesea. We moved to Taiwan in 2011 and are living here still. We have a much better lifestyle than in the UK as the cost of living is lower (except renting in Taipei). There's no requirement to learn Chinese as most services speak a little English, but basic Chinese does help sometimes (my husband gets on with virtually none). Taiwan is 'less developed' in some aspects, especially outside the main cities, but in many ways it's better than the UK, and the weather is warmer (though wetter, if you can believe it!).

I agree with other posters that moving to countries like the US and Oz won't mean a change for the better. You need to move somewhere that it's cheaper to live. South-east Asia is probably a good bet.

I'm not sure what to tell you. Your primary concerns should be what you're going to do for an income and how you're going to legally live in your chosen destination. My husband moved his business out here, so we can stay on that account. My son attends a local school so we don't pay international school fees. I work online writing articles as I can't work here according to the terms of my visa.
