    I've been Money Tipped!
I do it all the time, it's never queried. I find alot of parking machine tickets with 3p per litre off at local garage, if they are clean and dry I pick them up and use them! I also gave a friend £40 of tesco vouchers that they sent me for £10 off every £40 spent for 4 weeks - I don't use tesco anymore, she put them through no trouble...
  • I've trained the children to womble for the Active Kids vouchers on discarded receipts- the till staff think they're so cute that they often give extras too :p

I've never had a problem with loyalty cards not matching; sometimes the SA gets a till prompt but they can override it for you. Happy wombling!
They call me Dr Worm... I'm interested in things; I'm not a real doctor but I am a real worm.
  • :rotfl:I have lots of fun doing this at the supermarket its great putting through the voucher that the person before you walked off without. I had over £3 on my last shop just from the person walking away and leaving it in the machine! I just hope one day I have so much money I can afford to walk away from these coupons

I often get £3 of £30 spend but as I rarely spend that much in one go I always leave the voucher for someone else to use.

I actually tried wombling myself a couple of weeks ago and it turns out I'm very bad at it. I went to the self service till and picked up a couple of receipts from the box next to it but I went red and started dropping things and getting flustered because I suddenly felt really embarassed in case somebody was looking at me!

To make matters worse, when I got home I realised that it was a Tesco Metro and they don't do the price challenge thing. Never mind I thought, I can still use the clubcard points but I feel a bit shy about presenting a receipt which only says a multipack of condoms and a litre of flavoured milk.

People that can do this regularly must be made of sterner stuff than I am. The thread on here that I read made it seem so easy!

but I feel a bit shy about presenting a receipt which only says a multipack of condoms and a litre of flavoured milk.

People buy condoms, there's nothing to be ashamed of. I doubt even the SA would even bat an eye. People, and especially SAs, tend to be more open minded when it comes to issues regarding the sale of contraceptives these days.

Admittedly it can be a tad embarrassing if picking up receipts when there's a crowd, but on the other hand, who cares what you are feeling. I personally never used to let this bother me too much whenever I did it.
I am just worried they will be linked to individual Nectar cards and I will be shown up when the till won't accept them! Have you actually tried to use them yet?

I used to collect as many discarded receipts from Sainsbury's car park and near the entrance of the store, sometimes I'd pick up quite a few as well, never had a problem with regards to this. SAs never once queried it when asked if they could transfer the points onto my account, they never gave it a second thought.

I don't think it's that it's condoms specifically, it just looks a little funny that it is such a HUGE multipack of them and that the only other item on the receipt is 'a litre of flavoured milk'. I must have a very juvenile sense of humour! I think I'll still redeem it though. I have to toughen up!

I did hear of someone in M and S picking a till receipt then collecting the shopping on the receipt.....walked out without paying. wish they had been caught.
That of course is totally different just sharing the story.

I often think of doing this, but I once heard a horror story which put me off, that someone who found a receipt and did this, then got a visit from the boys in blue, cause whoever originally bought the stuff on the receipt had used a stolen credit card.

There are many dedicated womblers on MSE. In fact there are technical terms to distinquish different wombles:

" Womble: A discarded receipt that you picked up
Uncle Bulgaria: A womble of BIG value

Orinocco - A very small womble (i.e. not worth putting into the APG site)"

warning it is an addictive thread!
