Picking up other people's discarded till receipts

You're probably all way ahead of me on this one but I've started picking up the discarded till receipts on the self serve till I'm using at the time and so far I've got a 5p per litre fuel reduction, £1.37 off next shop (brand match) and £5 off a £40 shop :T

Does everyone else do this and I've only just cottoned on? :o

  • I am just worried they will be linked to individual Nectar cards and I will be shown up when the till won't accept them! Have you actually tried to use them yet?

This is known as "Receipt Wombling".

It works very well at ASDA with their Price Guarantee scheme, which is based on "your" receipts.

The only thing you have to look out for, if you're "wombling" them from trollies, is initials, etc. written on them, which means that they've already been used with a voucher and then discarded. However, I've only ever found two with this.
If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5? :)

I did think I wouldn't use my loyalty card when using them in case they didn't match but I have no shame :D

Thanks, one of them was kind of under my receipt so it had just come out of the machine but the other was on the top so, yes, I guess it could have been used but, like I said, I have no shame and nothing ventured, nothing gained!

I got a Nectar card and Sainsbury's put my points on my husband's card. I was annoyed and cancelled it - when I'm with my mother in Sainsbos I put my points on her card. OH has own Nectar card and when I bought new bed 60% off yesterday online with Sainsbury's he got 778 points. ;)

I would feel embarrassed to be caught wombling, I'd be surprised if supermarkets don't clamp down on it.

I used the self service till in Tesco last night and someone had left a £6 off voucher so I used it towards my shopping. Its amazing how many people just grab their shopping and go, the number of times I have been overcharged they must be mad.All my receipts are checked before I leave the store,I receive quite a lot back with double the difference on a regular basis.
