Dealer Crashed my car into a wall head on

Surely the best solution all round is for the OP to request that her car's front end is restored AND the gearbox is repaired as a goodwill gesture. It will not cost the garage £1200 to repair the gearbox so may be a deal they would go for. Ideal scenario for OP, new front end and gearbox sorted - what's the problem??0
-
That seems like a fair solution to me too, but the OP specifically said she didn't want a repaired car.the whole front will need to be replaced and I don’t feel safe driving it after the fix because concerned what damage it has internally.
When I read the first post in this thread, I think the garage has actually made her a fair offer - repair the damage at their own expense and giver her a courtesy car in the meantime. If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.0 -

Why would they do that?
Repair the front end yes, but lose £1200, again why?
Put front end right and then return car either unrepaired or repaired maybe a slight discount.
Guess we will never know though,OP should know whats happening by now0 -
As an aside, £1200 sounds excessive for the original repair0

IMO£1200 is excessive too.
They will more than likely be putting in a recon gearbox.
So the figure of -£1200 is a red herring.
Perhaps the OP should simply ask for £2k to replace the car and find a new to her one.0 -
I was in two accidents, both non fault. I didn't pay any more for my premiums as they are non-fault to me.gardnerj36 wrote: »...do not get your insurance company involved apart from telling them what has happened. you will be paying higher premiums for years if you do.
If you're paying extra for legal protection with your insurance then use it! The garage are in the wrong here and to their credit have offered to help, but there might be something they are also hiding.
Those that are saying "the garage are offering to repair the damage for free" - of course. However the car has been in an accident which may cause more hassle later on. Plus, there should be some kind of compensation for the inconvenience like... I don't know, a free gearbox repair...
Just make sure they give you paperwork to show what has happened for your own records.
They are inconveniencing you, so a like-for-like replacement needs to go more in your favour.
I hope you took photos and kept a record of what the dealer has offered / who / when.
Also, why is the assumption that it's just superficial damage? The OP stated their car hit a wall, which will have to be rebuilt. That doesn't sound like a small - medium bump.
But of course, it's difficult because the OP has told us very little information. If they were scared the garage may look on here, it's likely any damage has been done anyway so she may as well name the make / model / age of the car in addition to the car that was offered and the one she wants.0 -
Was this issue sorted? I was reading this over Easter & I am interested to know what happened in the end?0

My Daughter had a different outcome to non fault claim, her insurance jumped by around £100 and when she did quotes on comparison sites with and with and withought the no fault claim there was a difference of around the same with the non fault claim added0
