Sounds to me like they've been very reasonable about this so not exactly sure what the problem is!!

All they would be required to do is:
    - compensate you for the value of the car at the time immediately before the accident.
    or
    - restore the car to its condition pre-accident

You can't expect though, a £5k car with half the mileage in place of your £2k car.

You could though negotiate the value of your car.

Totally agree do not expect something newer than mine but I don't also want to pay out in the long run as bigger engine means higher insurance. I even said I would wait and drive their courtesy car indefinitely.

    That won't happen.

have you made sure you are insured to drive the courtesy car.

    Get your insurance company involved

I supposed I am just freaking out never been in this situation before will call the insurance company on Tuesday once I know what the offer is.
I just don't want to involve them sooner in case I upset the dealer could come off far worse that I am now! I am driving a car for free and they are coming back to me on Tuesday with another option so sit tight for me :(

    You'll wait for what?

You should be covered on one of their insurance policies for the courtesy car, confirm this with them.

But I wouldn't get your insurance involved to be honest. If they get their insurance involved you can liaise with them directly. But ideally seek an out of insurance settlement to avoid having to declare the claim in the future and being lumbered with higher premiums.

This is a good question, call your insurance ASAP. Remember you are obliged to inform them of any incidents regardless of wether you are claiming or not.

I am insured to drive the courtesy car on their insurance, I am waiting for an answer from the North West Director to agree for me to have the 2008 car with my contribution of £500 as a good will gesture. I will know on Tuesday.

I'm struggling to see how a bump start into the wall could have done sufficient damage that you would not want it repaired as you wouldn't feel safe?

Plenty of cars are damaged and repaired successfully
