Angle grinder for paving

I need an angle grinder for cutting paving. The slabs are 60x60cm with depth of 5cm. I need a cheapish but good quality angle grinder. I have looked at Bosch pws 600 and Dewalt with 11.5cm discs. Would these be okay for cutting this depth of slab?

From experience a 115mm disc is not ideal for cutting 2" slabs neatly, it will cut them but you will need to turn the slab over to go the whole way through. I only had to notch a couple of corners so not too bad but I would not like to halve a slab with one.0

Maybe go for a 9" one then? Maybe better to hire as the prices really do go up the larger the disc. :-(0

I've done it.
Buy a diamond blade or else you'll go through a pack of stone ones in a morning.
With a smaller blade you'll increase your margin of error but if you take it steady you'll be ok.
The other option is hire a large petrol cutter. Don't forget they'll charge for mm of blade use on top of the hire cost.0 -
So I could do it with a 4" blade? I notice that are different voltage/wattage of 4" angle grinders...http://www.raygrahams.com/search.aspx?searchterms=Angle+grinder&category=0
Any advice?

Have you got a transformer?
I guess not so stick with 240.0 -
No transformer. Just working outside house. What is treason for 110v?
There Otis a sale in homebase on a 4" 600w 240v. Will this do or would the 1000w be necessary. It is double the price.0 -

Site safety.
I don't see why not, don't force the cut. It's not as if your earning your living with the tool.0 -
115mm is to small to cut 50mm depth.0

110 is a legal site requirement for good reason, it's safer under extreme conditions, those guys have to work through wet weather, you don't, so save.
9" is the requirement for pavers/2" concrete.
DeWalt are great, recond grinders are good value on ebay, choose the supplier carefully though.;);)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0
