Never Ever use paypal for sales on EBay

It seems some people get quite offended if you criticise EBAY, and are really patronising when you don't know all the rules.
It never seems to be the scammers fault. Ask for help at your peril
Indeed. I don't go on this forum much these days, but I have noticed there are a significant number of people who prefer to blame the victim rather than the perpetrator.
As with any scam, you can always point a finger of partial blame at the victim, for not having read & understood the whole of the T&C, for example. But most of us have probably been guilty of it at some point, and it's no reason to beat someone up for it, especially if they're just after some help or advice. The main finger of blame should be pointed at those who seek to take advantage of those who are not, shall we say, as thorough as they perhaps should have been.0 -

I suspect people get exasperated at those who charge into eBay selling without actually reading terms and conditions.
Paypal is a perfectly safe method of receiving payment, providing you have taken the time to familiarise yourself with its rules.
Scammers are just waiting for people to make their lives easier, nobody is saying its not their fault, but had the seller familiarised himself with the T&C's in the first place its a situation that would never have arisen.0 -

It's not safe if someone collects the item and so there's no proof of postage. Whilst someone who has read the T&C should be aware of this, it may not necessarily have occurred to them when they came to sell an item many months later, or maybe is just a bit too trusting of a buyer who has previously had glowing feedback.
Again....

Maybe ... but that's no reason to beat someone up over it, just because they weren't as familiar with the T&C as perhaps they should have been at the time of the sell.
If you take the responsibility of selling on eBay and using Paypal as a payment method then of course you should make the effort to make yourself familiar with how it works. It's common sense. How can you possibly act within the T&C's of something if you haven't bothered to read them in the first place?0 -
I deleted my paypal account and will not use my ebay account anymore,
If i want an item on ebay, i will contact the buyer outside of ebay and pay using bank transfers in future.
And I am sure the seller would think you are some Nigerian fraudster
Other fraudster nationality's available too :rotfl:Owing on CC £00.00 :j
It's like shooting nerds in a barrel0 -

Paypal, like ebay, is safe until it goes wrong. You don't have to try hard to find the horror stories, as I know from personal experience.0 -

And 95% of those horror stories could have been avoided had people followed the rules i.e dont accept paypal for collection, send goods of value via trackable means etc0 -

No consolation if you're one of the thousands in that 5%.0 -
I was shocked today to find you cannot rely on positive feedback to indicate positive experiences.
The seller has no opportunity to review a buyer's feedback before deciding whether to do business with them, if they win the auction that's that. So there's no point in sellers giving buyers negative feedback.
Negative feedback for buyers was removed because it left buyers unable to leave negative feedback for fear of retaliatory negative feedback.0
